Singles Chartifacts: 

#1: SAINt JHN ‘Roses’ – American rapper SAINt JHN returns to the top of the ARIA Singles Chart, having dropped to #2 last week after spending the two previous weeks at #1. This is the tenth week in the chart for ‘Roses’, which was first released in 2016 but only started to chart around the world in late 2019 on the back of a remix by Kazakh producer Imanbek.

#24: DaBaby Feat. Roddy Ricch ‘Rockstar’ – As well as debuting at #40 on the ARIA Albums Chart, rapper DaBaby hits the ARIA Singles Chart with ‘Rockstar’. It’s the second single to chart from the Blame It On Baby album after ‘Find My Way’ (#47 Apr. ’20). It features Roddy Ricch, who recently had his first hit in Australia with ‘The Box’ (#4 Feb. ’20).

#25: Sam Smith & Demi Lovato ‘I’m Ready’ – Sam Smith and Demi Lovato team up for the new track ‘I’m Ready’. It becomes Smith’s second new entry on the chart for 2020 after ‘To Die For’ (#15 Mar. ’20). For Lovato, it’s her first chart appearance since ‘Sober’ (#50 Jul. ’18). Smith has previously charted with the collaborations ‘Promises’ with Calvin Harris (#4 Sept. ’18) and ‘Dancing With A Stranger’ with Normani (#6 Apr. ’19).

#43: Sam Fischer ‘This City’ – Sydney-born, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Sam Fischer makes his ARIA Top 50 debut with ‘This City’. The track was originally released in 2018 as part of Fischer’s Not A Hobby EP. Both titles have been re-released in recent months, with ‘This City’ already charting in the Top 50 in the UK and Ireland.

Albums Chartifacts:

#1: The Smith Street Band ‘Don’t Waste Your Anger’ – Melbourne’s The Smith Street Band grab their first ever #1 on the ARIA Charts as they debut in the top spot with Don’t Waste Your Anger. The group’s fifth studio album is the follow-up to More Scared Of You Than You Are Of Me (#3 Apr. ’17) and also claims #1 on the ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart. It’s The Smith Street Band’s second Top Ten entry in as many months; last month they released the digital-only live album Live At The Triffid (#4 Mar. ’20) to raise money for their crew members.

Don’t Waste Your Anger is the fifth Australian #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2020.

#7: DaBaby ‘Blame It On Baby’ – American rapper DaBaby’s third studio album becomes his most successful in Australia, surpassing last year’s Kirk (#11, Sep ‘20). The album features ‘Find My Way’ (#47 Apr. ’20) and the new single ‘Rockstar’ (#24, Apr ‘20).

#13: Fiona Apple ‘Fetch The Bolt Cutters’ – American singer-songwriter Fiona Apple returns with Fetch The Bolt Cutters. Apple’s fifth studio album is her first in eight years, coming as the follow-up to The Idler Wheel… (#23 Jul. ’12). It takes over from her previous album as her highest chart peak in Australia.

#14: Chillinit ‘The Octagon’ – Sydney rapper Chillinit re-enters the Top 50 at #13 with his second album, The Octagon. Its return to the chart comes on the back of the release of the vinyl edition of the album, which debuted at #2 in February. As a result, The Octagon is #3 on this week’s Vinyl Albums Chart.

#16: Casey Barnes ‘Town Of A Million Dreams’ – Gold Coast country artist Casey Barnes makes his Top 50 debut with Town Of A Million Dreams. It’s the fifth studio album from the 2009 Australian Idol contestant and Golden Guitar nominee. It comes two years on from previous album, The Good Life.
