Singles Chartifacts: 

#1: The Weeknd ‘Blinding Lights’ – The Weeknd holds #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart for a fourth consecutive week with ‘Blinding Lights’. The Canadian artist this week revealed the title of his forthcoming fourth album: After Hours. Both ‘Blinding Lights’ and ‘Heartless’ (#10 Dec. ’19) look set to appear on the follow-up to the EP My Dear Melancholy, (#3 Apr. ’18). No release date for After Hours has been confirmed yet.

#13: Justin Bieber Feat. Quavo ‘Intentions’ (Debut) – A week ahead of the release of his fifth album Changes, Justin Bieber releases the second single, the follow-up to ‘Yummy’ (#4 Jan. ’20). ‘Intentions’ features rapper Quavo, who is one third of American hip hop group Migos. Bieber and Quavo also worked together on the DJ Khaled singles ‘I’m The One’ (#1 May ’17) and ‘No Brainer’ (#6 Aug. ’18).

#31: Khalid x Disclosure ‘Know Your Worth’ (Debut) – American singer-songwriter Khalid and English electronic duo Disclosure release the collaboration ‘Know Your Worth’. It’s Khalid’s second Top 50 entry for 2020, having charted last month with ‘Eleven’ (#48 Jan. ’20). The track is Disclosure’s first chart appearance since ‘Magnets’ (#14 Oct. ’15). The pair previously produced Khalid’s ‘Talk’ (#4 Apr. ’19), which he performed at the 2019 ARIA Awards.

#33: OneFour ‘Welcome To Prison’ (Debut) – Western Sydney hip hop collective OneFour score their highest Top 50 chart entry with ‘Welcome To Prison’. The track references their recent controversies, following the gaoling of three of the group’s members: YP, Lekks and Celly14. OneFour first charted with ‘In The Beginning’ (#39 Nov. ’19).

#39: Joji ‘Run’ (Debut) – Former YouTube comedian and rapper, Japanese-born Australian Joji picks up his second and highest ever ARIA Singles Chart entry with ‘Run’. It’s his second standalone single since the release of his debut album, Ballads 1 (#17 Nov. ‘18), having charted last year with ‘Sanctuary’ (#42 Jun. ’19). He is part of 88rising, a collective of Asian born musicians with huge global fanbases. The video for ‘Run’ has reached 10 million views in just over a week.

Albums Chartifacts:

#1: Green Day ‘Father Of All…’ (Debut) – American punk veterans Green Day return to take out their third #1 album on the ARIA Charts. Father Of All… is the trio’s 13th studio album and comes four years on from Revolution Radio (#2 Oct. ’16). It’s Green Day’s shortest ever album, clocking in at 26 minutes and 12 seconds. The band have also hit #1 in Australia with Dookie (#1 Mar. ’95) and American Idiot (#1 Sept. ’04). They’ll be touring nationally in November on a triple bill alongside Weezer and Fall Out Boy. Father Of All… also tops this week’s Vinyl Albums Chart.

#4: Michael Bublé ‘Love’ – On the back of his current Australian tour, Michael Bublé returns to the chart with his latest album Love. The Canadian’s tenth album debuted at #2 back in November 2018. In December 2019, Bublé spent one week at #1 with perennial favourite Christmas.

#9: Soundtrack ‘Birds Of Prey: The Album’ (Debut) – The soundtrack to Birds Of Prey makes its Top 50 debut. Part of the DC Extended Universe, the film features Australian Margot Robbie in the lead role of Harley Quinn, the same role she performed in Suicide Squad. The Suicide Squad soundtrack spent one week at #1 in August 2016. The soundtrack features tracks by Doja Cat, Halsey, Sofi Tukker and more.

#15: Queen ‘Bohemian Rhapsody (The Original Soundtrack)’ – In the week Queen + Adam Lambert kicked off their national tour, the soundtrack to the legendary band’s biopic storms back up the chart 21 places. It previously spent four weeks at #1 in January 2019.

#33: Denzel Curry, Kenny Beats ‘Unlocked’ (Debut) – Rapper Denzel Curry teams up with producer/songwriter Kenny Beats for the EP Unlocked. It’s the third release by Curry to hit the Top 50 after TA13OO (#27 Aug. ’18) and ZUU(#18 Jun. ’19). It’s Beats’ first chart entry under his own name. He has previously worked with the likes of FKA Twigs, Ed Sheeran, Vince Staples and ScHoolboy Q.
