Singles Chartifacts:
#1: Tones And I ‘Dance Monkey’ – ‘Dance Monkey’ by Tones And I holds #1 for a twelfth consecutive week. Two other tracks have also held the top spot for that long: Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’ (2014) and Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself (2002/03). This week, ‘Dance Monkey’ became the first single by an Australian artist to top Spotify’s Global Chart. Tones And I will have to spend 15 weeks at #1 to equal Ed Sheeran’s 2017 record for most weeks at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. Tones And I’s ‘Never Seen The Rain’ returns to #21, the peak it previously held in August.
#3: Maroon 5 ‘Memories’ – After hitting the Top Ten for the first time last week, Maroon 5’s ‘Memories’ climbs up four spots to hit #3. It’s the American band’s sixth Top Three single in Australia; their first was with ‘She Will Be Loved’ (#1 Sept. ’04).
#6: Regard ‘Ride It’ – Regard’s remix of Jay Sean’s ‘Ride It’ continues to blaze its way up the chart. After hitting #11 last week, it’s up five spots this week to hit the Top Ten at #6.
#7: Harry Styles ‘Lights Up’ – Former One Direction member Harry Styles returns to the ARIA Singles Chart this week with ‘Lights Up’. The track is Styles’ first Top Ten single since his debut solo effort ‘Sign Of The Times’ peaked at #1 in April 2017 and is the first single from his forthcoming second solo album. ‘Lights Up’ becomes Styles’ third entry into the Singles Chart, following ‘Sweet Creature’ (#39 May ’17). Styles was awarded Best International Artist at the 2017 ARIA Awards.
#10: blackbear ‘Hot Girl Bummer’ – In its fifth week in the Top 50, ‘Hot Girl Bummer’ by blackbear hits the Top Ten for the first time. The American singer-songwriter also known as Matthew Musto has collaborated with a plethora of artists including Justin Bieber, G-Eazy, Machine Gun Kelly, Rick Ross, Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus, Childish Gambino and more.

#1: Post Malone ‘Hollywood’s Bleeding’ – Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding notches up its sixth straight week at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart. It becomes the album with the second most weeks at #1 in 2019, sitting one week behind Billie Eilish’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?
#3: Hillsong Worship ‘Awake’ – Hillsong Worship take out another Top Ten entry on the Albums Chart with Awake. A rare studio album by the group, it’s their first appearance on the chart since There Is More (#2 Apr. ’18). They also hit the chart in recent years with Let There Be Light (#2 Oct. ’16) and Open Heaven/River Wild (#1 Oct. ’15).
#9: Grinspoon ‘Chemical Heart (Best Of)’ – Grinspoon release the vinyl-only compilation, Chemical Heart (Best Of). It’s the second career-spanning collection from the Lismore band after Best In Show (#12 Nov. ’05) and includes the singles ‘Just Ace’ (#25 Feb. ’98), ‘Hard Act To Follow’ (#24 Aug. ’04), ‘Lost Control’ (#29 May ’02) and ‘Chemical Heart’ (#25 Mar. ’02). It’s Grinspoon’s eighth Top Ten album and the first since Black Rabbits (#8 Oct. ’12). Chemical Heart (Best Of) is #1 on this week’s ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.
#18: Babymetal ‘Metal Galaxy’ – Japanese kawaii metal band Babymetal claim their second Top 50 entry with Metal Galaxy. The group’s third album comes three years after they made their first chart appearance with Metal Resistance (#7 Apr. ’16). It’s the first Babymetal album to not feature original member Yuimetal, who left the band in October 2018.
#30: 88rising ‘Head In The Clouds II’ – International, multi-cultural hip-hop collective 88rising make their ARIA Charts debut with Head In The Clouds II. Released a year after the first Head In The Clouds album, it includes core artists such as Rich Brian and Joji, as well as guest contributions from Major Lazer, Swae Lee and more
