Singles Chartifacts:

#1: Tones And I ‘Dance Monkey’ – Tones And I maintains her hold on the #1 spot on the ARIA Singles Chart for 13th consecutive week with ‘Dance Monkey’, and also reaches 5x Platinum. The track joins ‘Old Town Road’ by Lil Nas X (2019), ‘Despacito’ by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee (2017) and ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ by Coolio (1995/1996) at equal second in the list of most weeks spent at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. ‘Dance Monkey’ only trails Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You (2017), which was #1 for 15 weeks.

Tones And I has a second Top Ten single this week, ‘Never Seen The Rain’ jumping eleven spots to #10. Only two Australian artists have had two singles in the Top Ten in the same week in the last decade: Harrison Craig in June 2013 and Karise Eden in June 2012. Before that, Savage Garden also achieved the feat in June 1997. She takes out #1 and #2 in the Australian Artists Singles Chart.

#4: Regard ‘Ride It’ – Claiming a second week in the Top Ten, Regard’s remix of Jay Sean’s ‘Ride It’ moves up two spots to hit a new peak at #4. In the UK, it’s so far peaked at #2, being held off the top spot by Tones And I’s ‘Dance Monkey’.

#8: blackbear ‘Hot Girl Bummer’ – blackbear’s ‘Hot Girl Bummer’ jumps two spots to snare a new peak at #8. Originally thought to be a play on Megan Thee Stallion’s ‘Hot Girl Summer’, blackbear has stated that the song was written about the hashtag trend #hotgirlsummer.

#12: Ed Sheeran Feat. Camila Cabello & Cardi B ‘South Of The Border’ – As it hits its 15th week in the Top 50, Ed Sheeran’s ‘South Of The Border’ claims a new peak at #12. The track originally debuted at #14 back in July.

#13: Lizzo ‘Good As Hell’ – After two weeks at #14, Lizzo’s ‘Good As Hell’ moves up one spot to #13, hitting a new peak. A new version of the track featuring Ariana Grande was released this week and could take it even higher up the chart.
