Singles Chartifacts: 

#1: Lil Nas X ‘Old Town Road’ – ‘Old Town Road’ by American rapper Lil Nas X takes out its tenth week at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. The single now sits alongside Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’ (#1 Dec. ’92), Sandi Thom’s ‘I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair)’ (#1 Sept. ’06) and LMFAO’s ‘Party Rock Anthem’ (#1 Apr. ’11), who all spent ten weeks in the top spot. The current record for most weeks at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart is Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’, which spent 15 weeks there in 2017.

#2: Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello ‘Señorita’ (Debut) – Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello team up for a second time, releasing ‘Señorita’. The track is Mendes’ second release to hit the Top 50 in 2019 after ‘If I Can’t Have You’ (#4 May ’19). Cabello last appeared on the chart with ‘Never Be The Same’ (#7 Feb. ’18). The pair previously collaborated on the single ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ (#33 Feb. ’16).

#7: Drake Feat. Rick Ross ‘Money In The Grave’ – Moving up five spots to #7, ‘Money In The Grave’ becomes Drake’s twelfth Top Ten on the ARIA Singles Chart.

#9: MeduZa Feat. Goodboys ‘Piece Of Your Heart’ – Italian trio MeduZa hit the Top Ten at #9 with ‘Piece Of Your Heart’. It’s the track’s sixth week on the chart.

#17: Lil Nas X ‘Panini’ (Debut) – Lil Nas X scores a second Top 50 entry with ‘Panini’. The track comes from the American rapper’s debut EP, 7 (debuting at #5 this week). The late Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain receives a writing credit on the song due to the chorus of the ‘Panini’ containing an interpolation of the track ‘In Bloom’ off Nevermind (#2 Jan. ’92).

#1: Billie Eilish ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ – American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish returns to claim a sixth week at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with her debut LP, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?

#5: Lil Nas X ‘7 EP’ (Debut) – With his ‘Old Town Road’ riding high at the top of the Singles Chart for a tenth week, American rapper Lil Nas X makes his Albums Chart debut with the EP 7. The release contains two versions of the aforementioned track, as well as new single ‘Panini’ (debuting at #17 this week), and the Cardi B collaboration ‘Rodeo’.

#7: Mark Ronson ‘Late Night Feelings’ (Debut) – Producer Mark Ronson returns with his first album in four years, Late Night Feelings. The follow-up to Uptown Special (#2 Jan. ’15) is Ronson’s fifth album and includes the Miley Cyrus-featured single ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’ (#6 Dec. ’18). Other collaborators on the album include Camila Cabello, Angel Olsen, Alicia Keys, Lykke Li and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker.

#18: Prince ‘Originals’ (Debut) – The famous Prince vault continues to reveal its contents with the release of Originals. The new album contains demos recorded by the late artist that were released by other acts including The Bangles, The Time, Martika, Sheila E, Kenny Rogers and more. Prince charted last year with the archival release Piano & A Microphone 1983(#33 Oct. ’18).

#23: The Saboteurs ‘Help Us Stranger’ (Debut) – Returning from hiatus, American rock band The Saboteurs release Help Us Stranger. It’s the third studio album from the band known as The Raconteurs everywhere else in the world, which is fronted by singer-songwriters Jack White and Brendan Benson. They previously charted with Broken Boy Soldiers (#14 May ’06) and Consolers Of The Lonely (#18 Apr. ’08).
