Singles Chartifacts: 

#1: Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper ‘Shallow’ – Following its Academy Award win for Best Original song, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s ‘Shallow’ returns to #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart for a fourth week. The track previously spent three straight weeks in the top spot in October/November 2018. In the 15 weeks between appearances at #1, ‘Shallow’ dropped as low as #11. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper performed the track from A Star Is Born (#1 Oct. ’18) at the Oscars ceremony, held in Los Angeles on Sunday. It has also won a Golden Globe and two Grammys.

#6: Sam Smith & Normani ‘Dancing With A Stranger’ – In its sixth week in the Top Ten, Sam Smith and Normani’s duet ‘Dancing With A Stranger’ moves up two spots to claim a new peak at #6.

#11: Hilltop Hoods ‘Leave Me Lonely’ – As the Hilltop Hoods claim their sixth #1 album, current single ‘Leave Me Lonely’ climbs eight spots to a score a new peak at #11. Further down the chart, the trio debut at #44 this week with ‘Exit Sign’. 

#12: P!nk ‘Walk Me Home’ (Debut) – American star P!nk picks up the week’s highest debut with ‘Walk Me Home’. It’s the first single released from her forthcoming eighth album, Hurts 2B Human, the follow-up to Beautiful Trauma (#1 Oct. ’17), which is set for release in April.

#13: The Chainsmokers Feat. 5 Seconds of Summer ‘Who Do You Love’ – Three weeks into its chart run, The Chainsmokers’ 5 Seconds of Summer collaboration ‘Who Do You Love’ hits another new peak, jumping up five spots to #13.

Albums Chartifacts:

#1: Hilltop Hoods ‘The Great Expanse’ (Debut) – Adelaide’s Hilltop Hoods score their sixth #1 on the Albums Chart with The Great Expanse, becoming the ARIA record holder for most #1 albums by an Australian band or group. It’s the hip hop trio’s eighth studio album, the first since Walking Under Stars (#1 Aug. ’14) and includes the singles ‘Clark Griswold’ (#48 Jul. ‘18) and ‘Leave Me Lonely’ (#11 Mar. ‘19). Another track from the album, ‘Exit Sign’, has debuted at #44 on this week’s Singles Chart. Hilltop Hoods have also hit #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with The Hard Road (#1 Apr. ’06), State Of The Art (#1 Jun. ’09), Drinking From The Sun (#1 Mar. ’12) and Drinking From The Sun, Walking Under Stars Restrung (#1 Feb. ’16).

ARIA CEO Dan Rosen said: “Congratulations to Hilltop Hoods on achieving their 6th #1 album. This is an ARIA record for the most #1s for any Australian band or group! This feat now places them behind only Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham and The 12th Man for most #1 albums on the ARIA Charts by an Australian artist.”

The Great Expanse is the first Australian #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2019.

#8: Julia Jacklin ‘Crushing’ (Debut) – Sydney singer-songwriter Julia Jacklin makes her debut appearance in the ARIA Top Ten with Crushing. Jacklin’s second album is the follow-up to her ARIA-nominated debut Don’t Let The Kids Win (#42 Oct. ’16). In 2018, Jacklin’s side project Phantastic Ferniture released their self-titled debut album.

#9: Eminem ‘Kamikaze’ – Wrapping up his national stadium tour, Eminem lands four albums in this week’s ARIA Top 50, with current studio album Kamikaze the highest at #9. He’s also present on the chart with Curtain Call: The Hits (#11), The Eminem Show (#25) and Recovery (#46).

#10: Dream Theater ‘Distance Over Time’ (Debut) – Prog metal band Dream Theater take out a second Top Ten album with Distance Over Time. The American band’s 14th studio album comes three years on from The Astonishing (#10 Feb. ’16). It’s their sixth release to chart in the ARIA Top 50.

#18: Offset ‘Father Of 4’ (Debut) – American rapper Offset makes his solo debut on the Albums Chart with Father Of 4. It’s the first album released by the Migos member under his own name and includes collaborations with Cardi B, Gucci Mane, J. Cole, CeeLo Green and more. As a member of Migos, Offset has charted with Culture (#26 Feb. ’17) and Culture II (#13 Feb. ’18).
