Melbourne artist Olza unveils their striking new single ‘sleepingpeacock’, a cathartic exploration of self-doubt, renewal, and the beauty of perseverance. Co-written and co-produced alongside Oly Bugg, the track draws inspiration from the symbolism of the peacock – a creature long associated with protection, growth, and new beginnings.

The song was sparked by a dream, a moment that served as a creative awakening. “Peacocks symbolise beauty and resilience. I had a dream about them at a time when I was doubting myself as an artist, and it became a way to remind myself to wake up, to use the beauty in my creativity to flourish,” Olza explains.
From its frenetic opening, ‘sleepingpeacock’ captures the overstimulation of racing thoughts and the chaos of an anxious headspace. As the track unfolds, it shifts into moments of euphoric calm, a sonic release mirroring the sensation of shutting out the noise, snapping out of looping negative daydreams, and finding silence. It is a journey from anxiety to clarity, underscored by a determination to protect one’s art and push through self-doubt.
The single is accompanied by Olza’s most ambitious music video to date, created in collaboration with long-time friend and director Liam Harrington. Over a year in planning, the shoot was spread across an intense weekend of 12-hour days. Day one unfolded in a dark studio under heavy lights, with Olza performing in a thick costume while pushing through the heat and exhaustion. Day two was the stark opposite, a freezing night at an open lake, where Olza braved the icy water to deliver one of their most vulnerable performances yet.

The self-funded project was built with a close-knit crew of friends and long-time collaborators, and it marks Olza’s largest and most personal creative undertaking so far. Beyond showcasing Olza as a musician, the video reveals a new side: performer, artist, and dancer. “I’m not professionally trained, but I wanted to let the movement tell a story of not always being able to control your emotions, to allow them to move through you instead,” Olza says.
To celebrate the release of the ‘sleepingpeacock’ video, Olza hosted a special launch night – which officially sold-out – bringing together music, fashion, and community in Melbourne’s Fitzroy North. The evening featured a vinyl DJ set, an intimate live performance by Olza, and the official screening of the sleepingpeacock video.
Olza has been steadily building momentum on the live stage, with recent support slots for Uglieboy and G.U.N, as well as a set at Club Lustre’s second edition at Miscellania. Each show has further cemented Olza’s reputation as a dynamic and commanding live act, capable of bringing raw emotion to the stage.
On October 25, Olza is set to curate a special event alongside FORNER at Bell City Takeaway. The multidisciplinary night will bring together four bands, including Olza and FORNER, two DJs, and small art exhibitions scattered throughout the venue.
As Olza prepares to share more new music and take the stage for upcoming headline and curated shows, sleepingpeacock marks the start of a thrilling new era – one where sound, vision, and performance converge to push artistic boundaries.

AMNPLIFY – DB

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
