Live Nation today announces the return of On The Steps, a fortnight of curated outdoor concerts taking place on the city’s most spectacular outdoor stage, the Sydney Opera House Forecourt. Running from 26 November to 10 December, the event series will bring together global music fans for nine unforgettable evenings of world-class entertainment with one of the most breathtaking views in the world.

Kicking off on Tuesday 26 November with globally renowned and platinum-selling British band Glass Animals, this year’s lineup showcases an electric display of Australia’s most celebrated talent performing alongside top-tier international artists, across a diverse range of genres and styles.

Homegrown heroes include Troye Sivan, Missy Higgins, Tones And I, Tina Arena and Richard Marx, along with international powerhouses, Glass Animals, Two Door Cinema Club & Declan McKenna, and New Zealand favourite Brooke Fraser with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

On The Steps takes place at one of the world’s most spectacular outdoor venues, offering an unparalleled concert experience that’s set beneath the iconic sails and framed by the dramatic Monumental Steps and Sydney Harbour Bridge. Celebrating the start of summer, On The Steps is set to provide audiences with some of the world’s best performances, all within a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The 2024 On The Steps program is proud to partner with the music industry’s charity Support Act, where all donations made through the On the Steps golden ticket promotion and other efforts to be announced will be matched by Live Nation*. Support Act provides vital crisis relief, mental health and wellbeing support to musicians, managers, crew, music workers and organisations across all genres of music.

On The Steps expected to welcome more than 50,000 fans to the Opera House’s Forecourt across the fortnight.

I Love You So F***ing Much is the follow-up to 2020’s critically revered Gold ARIA Accredited Dreamland, which sold over 12M copies globally and gave life to “Heat Waves”, the record-breaking song that became the biggest international hit from a British band in almost 30 years and is now x19 Platinum ARIA Accredited. It was the first song to reach #1 with a single writer and producer since Pharrell’s “Happy” and led to the pop world’s biggest acts, including Florence Welch, all wanting to work with band member Dave. Additionally, it became the first song by a British band since the Spice Girls’ “Wannabe” in 1995, to claim #1 for 5 consecutive weeks in the Billboard 100.

The four-piece were also crowned triple j’s Hottest 100 winner, with “Heat Waves” topping the Australian singles chart for six consecutive weeks and #1 on the ARIA Top 100 Singles for the year of 2021. Raised in Perth, Australia, Sivan first captured attention with his EPs ‘TRXYE’ (2014) and ‘Wild’ (2015), before achieving platinum status with his debut album ‘Blue Neighbourhood’ and gold status with his sophomore album ‘Bloom.’

Since being Unearthed by Triple J back in 2002 when she was still at high school Missy has blazed a trail for female singer/songwriters. She has received 26 ARIA Award nominations and earned five #1’s in her homeland while also enjoying a gold certification in the USA.

Tina Arena is one of Australia’s highest selling artists of all time, selling more than 10 million albums worldwide. Her landmark second solo album ‘Don’t Ask’ was released in 1994 which included one of her biggest hit singles to date Chains and has become one of Australia’s biggest selling albums of all time. Voted Australia’s greatest female singer of all time, Tina’s powerful voice remains unparalleled after 40 years in the industry.

Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, producer and best-selling author Richard Marx has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, starting with his self-titled debut which went to No. 8 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The album spawned four Top 5 singles, including “Hold on to the Nights” and “Don’t Mean Nothing,” which earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. Northern Ireland’s Two Door Cinema Club formed in 2007 and have since released five hugely successful records.  They first gained attention with their 2010 debut album “Tourist History”containing their break out singles “Something Good Can Work” and “Undercover Marty”. Alongside a massive US tour and some UK arena shows in the first half of 2024, Two Door Cinema Club also returned to the Main Stage at Reading and Leeds Festival.

Declan McKenna

Hailing from Hertfordshire in the UK, Declan McKenna released his third album this year, “What Happened To The Beach?”. McKenna’s biggest tunes hurtled along at 100mph, with the help of the California sun and producer Gianluca Buccellati (Arlo Parks and Lana Del Rey), the result is an album that revels in both space and atmosphere, evoking the sunshine McKenna basked in. This year has seen McKenna stage performances at Reading and Leeds Festival, and an extensive tour of the US, including supporting Sabrina Carpenter on her upcoming US arena tour.

Brooke Fraser’s acclaimed career is highlighted by her 2003 debut album “What To Do With Daylight,” which reached eight times platinum in New Zealand, and the worldwide hit “Something in the Water” from her third album “Flags”. 

She’s achieved five number one hits on the Radioscope 100 airplay chart and won the 2007 APRA Silver Scroll for “Albertine.”Brooke is also a multiple recipient of APRA’s Most Performed Work awards in New Zealand and overseas.

With nine Aotearoa Music Awards, including International Achievement, and multiple international platinum awards for “Something in the Water,” Brooke’s commercial success is evident over a career spanning six Brooke Fraser albums.
