Brisbane’s most thrilling music and arts takeover, Open Season, has officially kicked off – and it’s cranking up the volume with a fierce wave of new program additions, supercharging an already stacked lineup taking over the city from now until July!

You ready for this?

EDM aficionados rejoice as Open Season moves underground for South System, a FREE, open-air party celebrating the best in underground electronic music in one of the inner-city’s most iconic urban spaces on Saturday 5 July. In collaboration with CYBER, Fellr and Fish Lane Arts Precinct, Open Season is turning Fish Lane into a high-energy dancefloor, soundtracked by some of the country’s most forward-thinking DJs and producers including…

South.

Moktar leads an all-star cast of some of Australia’s best electronic acts. Lighting up Fish Lane with his hybrid style of club and techno combined with traditional Arabic instrumentation, sampling and producing.

South System is the first event of its kind in this location so don’t miss it. No tickets, no barriers – just a night of sound and dancing under the bridge. Register HERE to receive up to date event information.

“South System is more than a party – it’s pushing the boundaries on how we use public space, how we celebrate local talent, and how we connect through sound. Fish Lane has never seen anything like this, and that’s exactly the point. We’re flipping expectations with a raw, high-energy experience that’s built for discovery and connection – and best of all, it’s free!” says Dave Sleswick, Creative Director of The Tivoli Group.

That’s not all! Australian pop dynamo Kita Alexander will headline her own Open Season show, fresh off supporting Grammy Award-winning superstar Dua Lipa on the sold-out Australian and New Zealand leg of her Radical Optimism tour. That’s before beloved indie-folk duo The Dreggs take over The Tivoli as part of what’s tipped to be their only Australian headline tour for the year, celebrating the release of their second full length studio album, The Art of Uncommon Practice.

ICYMI: Skegss have added a second Tivoli date on Friday 27 June, after their original Open Season show sold out in a flash. The vibrant Aussie rockers will be joined by a killer support lineup: The Buoys, Fool Nelson, and Ixaras.

Speaking of support acts, Open Season is stacked with fresh additions across the board! Don’t miss Juno Mamba and Montêtna as they set the stage for the long-awaited return of Icelandic duo Kiasmos – back live for the first time in five years! Lunar Dirt will join shoegazing indie-rockers DIIV, while Asha Jefferies sets the tone for the candid musings of Soccer Mommy. Desmond Cheese & Flo Records will bring the groove ahead of Surprise Chef, while Felicity Kircher accompanies Sahara Beck at Grand on Ann.

Platonic Sex will give Cloud Control a warm welcome to the stage as they kick off the first night of their Bliss Release 15-year Anniversary Tour at The Princess Theatre this Friday 30 May. Just days later, the melodic piano bedroom pop of Tex Crick will ease the crowd into Jessica Pratt’s headline show on Tuesday 3 June, before Blue Diner. opens for the innovative and adventurous musical force that is Mount Kimbie next Wednesday 4 June.

The Tullamarines and Mid Drift will join The Preatures for their sold out 10-year anniversary celebration of debut LP, Blue Planet Eyes, as The Stress of Leisure, Seja and Eyes Ninety get things warmed up for The Gin Club. That’s a lot of artists taking over Brisbane for Open Season 2025 – and it’s all happening now!

Whether it’s the house-driven project of Grammy-nominated local legend Maxwell Byrne (aka Golden Vessel) as 1tbsp, the cosmic pulse of Emmy and Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist, composer and bandleader Kamasi Washington, or the Afro-Cuban jazz fusion of Mercury Prize and BRIT Award-winning Ezra Collective – blending salsa, reggae, soul and hip hop – Open Season 2025 has something for everyone.

The takeover has officially begun.
