New Zealand emo-pop quartet Openside are done tip-toeing around. With singles featured in Billboard’s Pride Playlist and Topsify’s International Pride Party Playlist in both 2018 and 2019, their incisive examinations of identity and relationships are resonating with an ever-growing audience.
Building a reputation for energetic live performances, touring New Zealand and supporting everyone from Twenty One Pilots and Fall Out Boy to Ellie Goulding and Panic! At The Disco. The fourpiece, fresh from a trip to LA where they filmed the visuals for their recent grittier single, ‘FCK U,’ are ready to bring an even bigger and brighter set across the ditch, for their very first shows in Australia, this December.
With more new music set for release later in the year, “We want people to know that we’re a pop band with a punk attitude – especially in our live show,” says drummer George Powell. “The shows are high energy, and a place that you can let go of all the things in life that are weighing you down. It’s just as much that for us as well.”
Openside are Possum Plows (vocals), George Powell (drums), PJ Sheperd (guitar), and bassist Harry Carter.
