Australian rock heavyweights Palace of the King make a triumphant return with their blistering new single “Birds of a Feather”, out August 1, and launching with back-to-back headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney.
Written by Tim Henwood and Seany Johnston, “Birds of a Feather” is a tribute to Chris and Rich Robinson of The Black Crowes—a band whose chemistry, conflict, and iconic sound have been a guiding light for Palace since day one.
Packed with fiery guitar interplay, soul-drenched vocals, and a groove that struts with Southern swagger, the single is both a love letter and a rock ’n’ roll revival.
“This one’s for the Robinson brothers,” says Henwood. “We’ve always resonated with their dynamic—the way friction and brotherhood can create something magical. ‘Birds of a Feather’ is about that connection and what it can produce when the music really matters.”
The track also marks the return of bassist Andrew Gilpin to the band, bringing fresh energy and firepower to the low end. Joining Henwood and Gilpin are Leigh Maden on guitar, Seany Johnston on guitar and keys, and Cameron McGlinchey locking it all down on drums.
To celebrate the release, Palace of the King will play two special single launch shows:
August 1 at
Cherry Bar (Melbourne)
with special guests
Willie J’s 6V6S
August 2 at
Chuck Trailer’s (Sydney)
with special guests
Avalanche
“Birds of a Feather” was produced by Tim Henwood and captures Palace of the King at their most honest and electrified—a full-throttle tribute to the roots that shaped them, and a bold step into their next chapter.

My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
