On the eve of their return to Australia for a run of summer festival performances, PNAU today release a short film ‘Luminous’, a rare behind-the-scenes look at their 2018 Changa Tour, culminating in the band’s incredible main stage performance at Splendour In The Grass in July. Today PNAU have also been announced as the headline act for the 2019 Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras party on March 2nd.
Directed by Robert Crispe and produced by Alan Parks, ‘Luminous’ follows PNAU’s Nicholas Littlemore, Peter Mayes and Sam Littlemore, alongside PNAU vocalist Kira Divine and drummer Tim Commandeur, as they traverse the country on their Changa Tour – from Fremantle to Newcastle, Sydney to Melbourne, right up until the magical moment they take to the stage at Splendour In The Grass in Byron Bay performing their multi-platinum hits ‘Chameleon’ and ‘Go Bang’, plus all-time fan favourites like ‘Wild Strawberries’ and ‘Baby’ to an enthralled and captivated audiences of tens of thousands of people.
Backstage at Splendour, just as the band is about to walk on stage, Nick reflects on the legacy that PNAU try to leave behind at every show: “You look out there and you see a sea of people, none of which I’ve ever met, none of which I’ll ever know, I won’t fall in love with any of them, they won’t break my heart. Next year they’ll all be replaced by another group of people – yes, some of them will be older and they’ll be here next year, but the point is, it’s all kind of meaningless unless you can leave some kind of lasting legacy, some kind of love, some kind of mystery that people are still going to be interested in trying to learn about, trying to grasp a hold of, what the fuck are we doing? What is the point of any of it?”
Having just walked away with another ARIA Award for Best Dance Release, PNAU have become the only act in the history of the ARIA Awards to win this category a record-breaking three times. First in the year 2000 for their breakthrough debut album Sambanova, in 2017 for their triple-platinum hit ‘Chameleon’, and this year for ‘Go Bang’. This year PNAU picked up an incredible seven ARIA Award nominations including Song of the Year and Album of the Year for their acclaimed LP Changa.
PNAU will soon be taking their electrifying live show on the road once again, performing at festivals across Australia and New Zealand over the summer. Check them out on the below dates.
