“From sleazy rock excess, to introspective, cracked psychedelia and back again” – THE FADER
“Pond…are very good at nailing tracks with best-of-both worlds approach, fusing those indulgent chunks of far-outness with fundamentally solid rock’n’roll tunes.” – PITCHFORK
“Allbrook, much like Bradford Cox or even Bowie, has a knack for conveying the beauty and madness of the human condition in his lyrics and performance… Pond’s slickest effort so far”. – UNCUT

Set to embark on a North American tour and a slew of festival sets and headline shows across Europe and the UK, before they return to Australia this January to perform with Mac DeMarco, POND today announce the release of Sessions. Available Friday 8 November on digital and vinyl via Spinning Top | Caroline, the live studio LP was recorded in the European spring during their recent tour.
The news is paired with the release of the exhilarating album cut Don’t Look at the Sun (Or You’ll Go Blind). The live fan-favourite contains a reference to Six Pack by ESG and Firestarter by The Prodigy and is taken from their debut album Psychedelic Mango released in 2009.
“We wanted to capture how the band has been playing live lately and commit that to tape while we were in the middle of a long tour,” says Jay Watson of the release.
“As you play the same song for years, or even as a single tour rolls on, the way you play the songs mutates. Little inflections and fills become part of the song, and the structures and even the overall feeling and intent of the songs change. I always loved listening to my favourite bands ‘Peel Sessions’ and wanted something of our own in that vein. We hope you dig it!” he adds.
Sessions follows on from Pond’s most critically acclaimed album to date, Tasmania. Their eighth studio album debuted at #15 on the ARIA album chart and #2 on the AIR independent chart in March. Produced and mixed by Kevin Parker and Pond, the LP acts as some kind of sister missive to their 2017 opus The Weather. The LP features the grandiose The Boys Are Killing Me, alt-pop anthem Daisy, psychedelic space romp Sixteen Days and spatial adventure Burnt Out Star.
Pond possess an ever-expanding performance resumé, having toured with Arctic Monkeys, MGMT and Flaming Lips. They stunned at premiere musical festivals around the world including Glastonbury, Coachella, Primavera, Bonnaroo, Reading and Leeds, The Governors Ball, South by Southwest, St Jerome’s Laneway, Splendour in the Grass and more, and have sold out countless venues around the globe from New York’s Bowery Ballroom to Paris’ La Gaite Lyrique and London’s O2 Forum.

AMNPLIFY – DB
My nickname is “The Amnplifier”. Why? Because around here my focus is on being a conduit for providing greater outcomes that people come here for. My day to day “work” is living in the moment, and I love helping others concentrate on finding their connection to themselves through their experiences.
Why start a music environment? The truth is I love music, I love writing, and I love life. I work with musicians every day, and I feel certain that I will be until they put me in the ground. I have been managing people in businesses of some sort for over thirty five years so along the way I have developed some “wisdom” from my regular and constant “observations”.
Amnplify your experience. That is what we want you to do here, and if you want to let me know why you do, or don’t, shoot me a message on Facebook.
Hope you enjoy yourself here and find something that hits you somewhere.
