Adelaide post-hardcore five-piece Glass Tides have dropped their exciting new single “Sympathy” today. Alongside singles “Crawling” and “Waste” it serves as the perfect taster ahead of the release of the band’s full-length album release set for release on 17th January 2020. Featuring nihilistic yet scintillating emo-pop, the track serves as the perfect anodyne to the existential disillusionment of today.

“The song itself takes on a soft rock vibe, really focusing on the lyrics,” said the band. “Bringing out the most horrible thoughts you could think of yourself while in a dark place, but then still having hope that you are able to be whoever you want to be.”

Premiered by Clipped TV, the music video explores the idea of accepting one’s flaws and imperfections and becoming stronger through them.

“It felt so natural to grab these thoughts of feeling down on yourself and picking at all your imperfections (when writing the lyrics),” said Paul Bakker, lead singer of Glass Tides. “Working with the idea of nothing in this world is perfect and we all have our flaws, we just wanted to take an approach (with the video) where we aren’t ashamed of our flaws and we want to use them in a positive way to progress.”

With their first two releases of 2019 both receiving triple j airplay, almost 40,000 YouTube views and 100,000 Spotify streams combined, Glass Tides are cementing their position at the forefront of Brisbane’s pop punk scene.

Glass Tides are a five-piece emo-rock ensemble from Adelaide, South Australia and are wasting no time to establish themselves nationwide by supporting artists such as Thrice, Circa Survive, Spiderbait, Body Jar, Young Lions and more. The group’s unique integration of both of post-hardcore and metal-core music accompanied by the passionate and raw vocals has ignited excitement around the world upon their establishment in late 2017. Along the way, the group has released two EPs, Thoughts (2017) and My Descend (2018), and will be dropping their first full-length in January 2020.

“Sympathy” is available to stream and purchase on all platforms now.
