Port Fairy Folk Festival today announced Kasey Chambers as Artist of the Year, 2019.

This year the Artist of the Year Award will include a donation to OUR RAINBOW HOUSE, an Australian owned primary school in Zambia, Africa, for which Kasey is Ambassador.

Accepting the award, Kasey Chambers said: “OUR RAINBOW HOUSE is a beautiful small school with only 50 primary students which provides education, nutrition and lots of love to orphans and particularly vulnerable children in a special local community in Zambia. I am proud to be their ambassador and I visit there often, teaching music, song writing and just generally helping out on the ground, and to have this award support OUR RAINBOW HOUSE is just overwhelmingly beautiful! THANK YOU!”

The Artist of the Year Award is proudly sponsored by sponsored by Towards Zero TAC.

The annual Artist of the Year award was established in 1995 and recognises artists who have made a significant contribution the music community, culture and industry.

The inaugural recipient was the late Danny Spooner and previous recipients include John Butler, Archie Roach, The Waifs, Mick Thomas, Dobe Newton, Kavisha Mazella, Tiddas, Margret RoadKnight, Neil Murray, Rick E Vengeance, Judy Small, Chris While & Julie Matthews, Marcia Howard, Mic Conway and Eric Bogle.

With 12 award-winning albums under her belt, Kasey Chambers will perform at the 43rd Port Fairy Folk Festival this March, bringing her brilliant song writing and world-class performance to the seaside stage.

Kasey’s latest album, Campfire, invited fans to join her in sharing captivating songs and stories that have inspired her unique musical journey. Kasey will perform songs from Campfire plus many of her much-loved songs from way back to The Captain, Barricades and Brickwalls days, up until now for a very special festival performance.
