It has been quite a few years since All Time Low has graced our Australian shores, along with Mayday Parade who seem to have returned sooner than expected, and singer-songwriter Lauran Hibberd joining the stacked lineup.

The huge Margaret Court Arena show began with the poppy, slacker rock sounds of Lauran Hibberd. Lauran of course played the fan favourite single ‘Honda Civic’, which in an almost anthem style really got the crowd involved early on in the set. This was overall a very fun set and started the night off with a full dose of energy, along with dancing, middle fingers, and some epic guitar playing.

Next up we had Mayday Parade, who I have always personally classified as ‘sad pop punk’. The band is always energetic whilst vocalist Derek Sanders sings meaningful lyrics over pop rock style instrumentals. This set was amazing for any OG fans like myself, which most of the set consisting of many songs from early albums including ‘A Lesson In Romantics’ and their 2011 self titled album. The moment the piano came out during the set, everyone knew what was coming and the room filled with excited anticipation. Derek began performing ‘Miserable At Best’, and almost every single person in the entire arena sang every word at an indescribable volume. This moment felt so special; there were tears, hugs, and slow sways throughout the arena. This was an intimate moment in the middle of their set, until jumping straight back into some more of their classic upbeat tracks, before finishing on their Spotify #1 track ‘Jersey’.

All Time Low started off their nearly 2 hour set with ‘Lost In Stereo’ from their 2009 album ‘Nothing Personal’, which was an immediate burst of energy. The setlist for this show was highly appealing for any long time fans of the band as many old favourites were played, including ‘Weightless’, ‘Heroes’ and ‘Poppin’ Champagne’. Throughout the set we sang happy birthday to the most recent band member Dan Swank, this happened about four times in total, in true fashion of All Time Low’s prankster personas. In between the pop punk tracks, there was a lot of jokes and laughter, and the Aussie tradition of a ‘shoey’ was consumed on about five seperate occasions. Along with their classic songs, the band also performed newer tracks such as ‘Fake as Hell’ and ‘Monsters’. This set was overall very enjoyable, everybody was simply having a great time dancing and singing along to their favourite songs. Of course the show had to come to an end eventually and to the relief of the audience the band concluded their set with ‘Dear Maria, Count Me In’, their most popular song, which sent the crowd into one last surge of energetic involvement.

Overall this was an amazing show with a very well put together lineup that really appealed to fans, along with setlists that got both old and new fans involved throughout the evening.
