‘Amnplify Snapshot’

Scarlet Kill

.

.

When twin brothers Will and Matt Tyler, along with their younger brother Mitch started jamming in their sweaty Gold Coast garage, they never dreamed it would turn into Scarlet Kill

.

.

How would you describe your journey in the music industry so far, and where do you want to go from here with your music?

It’s taken us on quite the ride! We’ve had so many amazing opportunities and experiences and are always looking forward to what comes next. We’ll definitely continue to experiment with the Scarlet Kill sound – that’s for certain.

.

When did you know you wanted to make music, and perform as your career?

We’ve always been involved in music in some shape or form, but the moment Will and I were leaving our very first concert, which happened to be Fall Out Boy when we were around 11 years old, was when I personally had my mind set – and I don’t see it ever changing.

.

Who have been your musical influences or artists you have admired growing up?

Growing up we were very much into pop rock alternative music, and this hasn’t really changed. Green Day, My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy were definitely on repeat a little too much growing up.  We’ve broadened our horizons quite a bit thought! Now Will’s listening to Gabrielle Aplin, Matt’s secretly got Jimmy Barnes playing and I’m jamming to Posty.

.

.

Are there any artists or musicians that you have been so impacted by that it changed your view on life or mentality toward music?

What a question! Ed Sheeran has really cracked open a world that we never thought was possible. Selling out double stadiums is unreal and is there even a song on his latest album Divide that you don’t like?! In regards to changing my view on life – I love bands like Green Day, The Maine or Never Shout Never. Those bands put on a show contains a real meaning and they create an authentic live atmosphere.

.

How do you feel your sound has developed over your time releasing music?

I think our sound has taken step after step into the right direction for us. Every time we get into the studio, we bring new influences and bigger and better demos. We always leave with something that shows our progression and something that we really dig ourselves. It’s super important that you can jam to your own music – if you as the creator doesn’t love it, who will? The fun thing about music at the moment, is that there are so many musicians smashing it left right and center, which keeps raising the bar higher and higher. This drives us to make sure we’re writing as well as we possibly can.

.

What performance in your career so far has been the most memorable, or surreal and why?

We’re all huge fans of Never Shout Never and we recently got the opportunity to support them which was surreal. It’s definitely another one off the bucket list for sure!

.

If you weren’t working in the music industry, what else do you think you would be doing with your life right now?

We’re not the type to fool you into thinking that music is all we do. We each have other things going for us outside of Scarlet Kill to keep a roof over our head. But if music wasn’t an option, I believe our lives would still be creative somehow – perhaps helping people in some shape or form.

.

What’s one song fans might be surprised you really like?

At the moment I’m really digging ‘Sing About Me, I’m Dying Of Thirst’ by Kendrick Lamar. I feel like if I was a fan, I’d be surprised that I listen to that!

.

.

If you could choose only one muso, artist or band to collaborate with who is no longer alive who would you choose?

Michael Jackson!

.

If you had to listen to one song on repeat the rest of your life what song and why?

Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes because it’s got a killer title and it’s a roller coaster of a song that makes me super nostalgic.

.

Lastly, for fun, what item of clothing would you be most upset to lose, and why?

I’d totally be upset to lose my skinny jeans – they should be a staple in any pop rock bands wardrobe!

.

Where can fans see you perform live next, and download or stream your music?

We’re currently on our ‘Nights Get Cold’ Tour and so far we’ve had a blast in Brisbane and Sydney. Melbourne is next on the list (10th March) so we hope to see you all there! Fans can stream or download us anywhere – we’re pretty much on everything. Spotify is a great start!
