Top 5 Photos Of The Week
Week 2
By Dave Bruce, CEO
.
Just as it sounds, we thought it was time to start highlighting some of the great work done by our Amnplify Photographers each week. Every week, photos will be submitted, a “Top 5” will be selected and voted on, and one photo will be given the title of our “Photo Of The Week”. Just a little recognition for a photographer who has a goal to shoot impeccably.
The truth is we have thousands of photos posted each month and most of our photographers should get an award for their work. Live Music Photography is a skill like no other. Whether you are squashed into a pit or roaming through the crowd for “The Shot”, the photographer usually has little time and on many occasions poor light to deal with, not to mention the usually “charged” crowd taking every “perfect” spot. In my eyes, they are experts in their field and often unseen and unheard. Over time, we want to change that a little.
Week 2 below. Checkout Week 1 here.
Enjoy the photos, and checkout more of their work. Watch out for flies as your mouths may be open as you do.

Deb Kloeden
Amnplify photographer of the week is Deb Kloeden! Deb studied photography as part of her Fine Arts course when training to be a teacher back in the days of film. She cut her concert photography teeth shooting friends in local bands in rural Mt Gambier. After years of teaching Art, Photography and Graphic Design, she decided to leave the teaching game and follow her dream of becoming a concert photographer. She is very grateful to be part of the Amnplify photography team following her true passions, music and photography.
Here is a shot of Yothu Yindi & The Treaty Project taken at The Queenscliff Music Festival in November 2017. Sofie Marsden
My name is Sofie and I’m a a Melbourne-based live music photographer from Adelaide. I’ve been shooting bands for ten years, originally in the underground metal scene in SA. These days I’ll shoot anything that looks like fun, whether it be through a band’s use of costuming and/or makeup, or artists who just have a great attitude, my preference still leans towards the heavier side, but I’ll give just about anything a go.
This shot is of Troldhaugen, a band out of Woolongong, taken at 170 Russell in 2015, when they supported Alestorm. Troldhaugen are everything I love about live music, they’re crazy and fun, they;re unlike anything else I’ve seen. They’re heavy and wild and their frontman in particular is one of the most captivating performers you’ll ever see.

Paul Tadday
Music has always been an important part of my life. Before I was 10 years old I was listening to Kiss, The Eagles, The Who, Split Enz and AC/DC… By my late teens my musical journey had landed me on the stage playing the hard rock and metal that I loved so much. Since 2014 my love of music has taken me behind the lens, and now I feel the stage rush from the photo pit instead! Even after shooting 100’s of shows I still get that rush from the energy on the stage and I strive to capture that same energy in my images. The thrill of the chase… there’s nothing better!! Progfest 2018 in Melbourne had a brilliant line-up of Aussie bands. Of all of those on the bill VOYAGER was the most energetic! This image of Danny Estrin was one of those shots that you just wait for as a photographer. I knew it was coming, the strut forwards towards the mic stand, then the head goes down and I knew it was about to whip right back up… The facial expression was just the icing on the cake! The complimentary colours of orange and blue were a nice bonus as well!

Dani Brown
Dani took this photo of Rise Against’s frontman Tim McIlrath at Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide in February 2018. It was a last-minute shoot of one of her favourite bands, so she was nervous, but a number of her photographer friends were in the photo pit which she found support in. They were told Tim would be coming into the crowd at some point, so she made sure she was always away from the other photographers so she had enough room to try and get the perfect shot. She was lucky enough to snag a spot on a step on the barrier when Tim jumped off the stage and caught this moment where he and a fan sang together. The girl was so stoked that it happened, and Dani was so stoked to capture it!
