Top 5 Photos Of The Week
Week 4
By Dave Bruce, CEO
.
Just as it sounds, we thought it was time to start highlighting some of the great work done by our Amnplify Photographers each week. Every week, photos will be submitted, a “Top 5” will be selected and voted on, and one photo will be given the title of our “Photo Of The Week”. Just a little recognition for a photographer who has a goal to shoot impeccably.
The truth is we have thousands of photos posted each month and most of our photographers should get an award for their work. Live Music Photography is a skill like no other. Whether you are squashed into a pit or roaming through the crowd for “The Shot”, the photographer usually has little time and on many occasions poor light to deal with, not to mention the usually “charged” crowd taking every “perfect” spot. In my eyes, they are experts in their field and often unseen and unheard. Over time, we want to change that a little.
Week 3 below. Checkout Week 1 here and Week 2 here.
Enjoy the photos, and checkout more of their work. Watch out for flies as your mouths may be open as you do.

Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, it’s my happy place. I started photography back in high school, and it’s been my passion ever since. Combining the two was the best decision I’ve made.
I love the challenge of each show, from different stage set ups, challenging lighting and never knowing what the band will do next. Being able to capture special moments and the emotion of a performance and share them with other music fans is what it’s all about.
Panic! At The Disco are my best friends favourite band so when she suggested we travel the 1200kms (one way) to see them it was a given we were going on a road trip.
If you’ve ever seen Brendon perform you’ll know he’s tricky to shoot, never standing still for more than a few seconds at a time. Capturing this moment of stillness in a sea of chaos was a highlight for me.

I’m a Sydney based photographer who first started shooting music in 2011. Since that time, I’ve shot concerts and festivals in various parts of the country. I love being able to capture that special energy that you get from a live performance in front of an enthusiastic crowd – those moments where the fans get to share something with the bands they love. It’s all about the adrenaline and the passion for me; as long as the challenge of catching that perfect shot.
This is photo is of Stevie from Clowns and was from Frankie’s Pizza By The Slice. I’d inadvertently applied to shoot one of the support bands instead of the headliner, and was pleasantly surprised to find that Clowns were top of the bill. I’ve shot the Clowns twice, and both times have been in tiny venues – the vibe they bring is great, they’ve got so much energy, such a great band to see live. This was from a rare moment of calm.

I got the opportunity to shoot the Alice Cooper gig in Canberra last year and I was thrilled. I love a good road trip. I wasn’t disappointed it was a spectacular performance by Alice and his band. Nita Strauss is a great guitarist with engaging stage presence. Known for her hair flicks whilst shredding I was able to line up this shot which is one of my favourites I took that night. Shot with my Canon EOS 5DMKII and EF 24-105/f4L lens. Focal Length 40mm Shutter Speed 1/320 ISO 2500
