At last, Australia’s sweetheart has returned! Queensland-bred singer/songwriter Amy Shark recently announced the arrival of her debut album “Love Monster” out July 13th. And with this new album comes “I Said Hi”, a single all about Shark’s previous struggles in the music and life in general. It’s safe to say Amy Shark has always had high expectations placed upon her since her breakout single “Adore” and the release of “I Said Hi” is no different.

Shark starts off with a stripped back intro, reminiscent of her previous singles of “Adore” and “Weekends”. However, this is not the happy-go-lucky Amy Shark we know in previous releases. Instead, we see a darker, more mature side of Shark that we haven’t seen since songs like “Golden Fleece” and “Spits On Girls”.

The imagery is intense from the get-go as Shark sings, “I stand in the corner like a tired boxer. One hand on my cheekbone, one hand on the rope”. But it’s once Shark’s pop tendencies come out to play in the chorus that the song evolves into a triumphant applause. She’s hung out with some of the biggest must in the industry from The Chainsmokers and Jack Antonoff and the influences definitely show off on this single.

Whether you or not you’re a fan, you can definitely agree that Amy Shark can create a hit. And like always, Shark exceeds those expectations once more with “I Said Hi”. “I Said Hi” showcases a new era in Shark’s musical career and personal life and I don’t know about anyone else but I’m incredibly excited to see where this new era takes her.
