Just because tonight’s venue, the Zoo, barely reaches half full, that doesn’t mean that the crowd are any less excited to see Californian support act, together PANGEA. Their start time runs on the late side, which means punters need to make the most of the shortened set by immediately using the stage and its amps as leverage to crowd surf.

together PANGEA, however, seem fairly unphased by the instant antics: happy to share their stage for those brave enough to grace it. Though there is a constant flurry of a mosh to keep an eye on, it doesn’t completely distract from the fact that together PANGEA are shredding some prodigious guitar under their casual co-vocals. While frontman William Keegan leads the pack with raspy half-sung half-shouted lyrics that are half-sung half-shouted back, it’s undeniably lead guitarist Danny Bengston that steals the show.

The pace slows only for belter Money On It, the country-tinged The Cold, and Peach Mirror. The rest of the setlist moving at a breakneck speed as the band fit as many songs as they can into their shortened slot before making way for tonight’s headliner. While there may currently be an abundance of alt-rock so-cal bands, together PANGEA are certainly worth keeping an eye on.

It would be unfair to not address the fact that the crowd has considerably thinned since together PANGEA ended their set. While the venue runs discouragingly empty, Bleeding Knees Club, all sporting haphazardly applied clown makeup, are seemingly unperturbed by the fact. The Gold Coast four present a solid set, with fan favourites Chew The Gum and newer release Case instigating the rowdiest responses. While the band would have been more well-suited for smaller, more intimate venue, Bleeding Knees Club have nonetheless made up for their recent years of absence with their spirited set.
