Electronic duo Boo Seeka returned to UOW Unibar for their third time, welcomed by an energetic crowd for a show full of synth-pop and dance inducing tunes. Alongside for support were Central Coast band The Moving Stills, and Wollongong locals Good Lekker.

Starting the night around 8:30, Good Lekker jumped on stage bursting with energy to get the early crowd moving. Single ‘Alibi’ harboured atmospheric riffs and strong vocals, before the band showed off new single ‘What I Used To Know’, that slowly built throughout the song, a steady infectious tune.

At just before 9:30 pop rock four piece The Moving Stills brought a pulsating bass and drum patterns that will make you want to dance to the stage. With a steady and chilled stage presence, new single ‘Nineteen’ was an “ode to the bittersweet inevitability of age”, showing their fresh lyricism and infectious energy.

At just after 10:30 the Boo Seeka boys ran onto the stage, jumping into songs like ‘Kingdom Leader’ and ‘Deception Bay’. The energy being emitted into the crowd was something to be remembered, with pulsating lights and fog blaring from the stage, the venue was thrown into movement.

Song ‘Oh My’ poured an ambience into the room, strengthened by Ben and Sam’s constant energy, proving why they have sold out shows in this same venue before.

‘Does This Last’ gave off strong feels of nostalgia and balance, accompanied by orchestral like effects, a true show of the diversity and talent of the duo.

Between just the two of them, Boo Seeka’s performance and ability to hold large crowds in so many venues prove that they’re one of the most dynamic and unique acts in Australia, and have been for a while.

Track ‘Turn Up Your Light’ of their 2017 album ‘Never Too Soon’ heard the crowd sing back lyrics, with phone torch lights shining bright as the stage lights took a peaceful break.

Boo Seeka are definitely a must see live act, and are constantly breaking boundaries with what they can achieve with their music, setting up this year and beyond for a great one.
