I believe we are so blessed in Australia with the music artists we have and the music they produce. From the long-standing Aussie rock legends, to new and up coming artists. There is a richness to the music Aussie artists create. And even though I have said this before, it needs saying again when you get to review an artist such as Jarred Wall aka Boox Kid.

Jarred is a singer, songwriter and producer based in Fremantle in Western Australia and is a a proud Noongar man of the Wardandi Bibbulmun nation. Jarred has been on the music scene since 2019 as a solo artist and has been going from strength to strength with every single release he has.

Boox Kid has a unique take on the indie, pop, electronic genre. He produces beautiful sounds on his songs which carry you to another place. His singles “Hold My Hand”, “Sentimental Dreams”, “It’s Just a Dream, Wake Up”, and “1984” all received extensive airplay on several radio stations including RTRFM and triple j Unearthed.

Now Boox Kid has a brand new single out titled “When I Was A Young Boy” and fans familiar with Boox Kid’s other songs are going to be delighted with this track.

The song starts off soft and dreamy with soothing sounds. When the vocals kick in, they are gentle and the lyrics “When I was a young boy, I had the strangest dreams” are sung. The song is slow in tempo and ballad like. The song takes you on a reminiscing journey of being young and recalling your youth and delves into the memories from times gone by.

The song explores different synth sounds and combines them in a creative way that evokes your emotions. The song makes you want to close your eyes, breathe in deep and let out a deep sigh.

A beautiful piece of music that is a great tune to listen to when you want to relax and let go of all the stresses of the current day and allow yourself to remember a simpler time. Featuring samples of Wall’s daughters ‘It’s Just a Dream, Wake Up’ is a dreamy electronic piece, weaving through unique instrumentation, taking the listener on a journey. With regular airplay, the track became one of the most played tunes of 2019 on RTRFM.

Latest single ‘1984’ was released to streaming and radio on 24.07.2020 and has since received regular rotation on RTRfm, airplay on triple j Unearthed radio and placement on Spotify’s Deadly Beats.

Boox Kid was recently featured by PILERATS for NAIDOC week 2020 and was announced as part of the BIGSOUND50, the Industries top 50 emerging Australian Artists according to BIGSOUND.
