Cassy James is back calling out inequities in her new single, “Just For Being Who We Are”. The protest song emerges as a passionate declaration in response to the marginalisations of queer voices. 

We all remember the recent Olympics and the intense scrutiny Algerian boxer Imane Khelif endured. It was a reminder to Cassy about the bigotry queer or queer aligned individuals still face in society today. “Just For Being Who We Are” is a direct reaction to those incidents of political controversies. Cassy, channelling her personal indignation into her art, has crafted a song meant to address and counteract these harmful narratives.

Drawing on her background as a prolific writer and performer, Cassy has created a high-octane anthem, blending electronic beats with dynamic sound effects to create a vibrant and rousing experience. It’s a foot-stomping, fist pumping anthem that bubbles with resilience and an undercurrent of warranted rage. Hailing from Sydney, Cassy is not your typical musician. Having always been a musical jumping bean in her bedroom, Cassy came to music later in her adulthood. It was only when living in Belgium in a house full of music students, that songs began pouring out of her.

As a proud trans woman and non-conformist, Cassy defies genre boundaries, weaving electronic beats and captivating sound effects into her music to create a mesmerizing jack-in-the-box effect. With each track, she pulls listeners into her sonic universe, much like quicksand, impossible to escape.

Cassy’s music is a reflection of her unapologetic authenticity and refusal to be confined by societal norms. Through her artistry, she breaks barriers and challenges conventions, inviting audiences to embrace their true selves fearlessly. Cassy Judy is a multi-talented artist and musician based in Sydney, Australia. Inspired by her insatiable love of women, Cassy pours her slow-burning lesbianism into the Soul Parts EP. After the runaway success of the side- splittingly hilarious Body Parts Album, Cassy takes a sharp dive inward, only emerging to make a bold political statement about Queer rights in the modern age in the foot-stomping anthem, Just For Being Who We Are.

An adept comedian (Good Girls Comedy, Cheeky Monkey) Cassy’s creativity knows no bounds. A compelling performer and multi-instrumentalist, Judy’s musical prowess is further underscored by her formal education, having completed a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Music Industry (Performance).

Drawing inspiration from her eclectic experiences and surroundings, Judy’s music reflects a fusion of diverse influences and styles, blending elements of folk, indie, and electronic genres. Her heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies resonate with audiences, inviting them into a world of introspection and emotional depth.

She is currently gearing up to release her highly anticipated “Soul Parts” EP, a departure from her previous work, following the success of her hilarious blockbuster “Body Parts” EP, which saw sell-out regional shows. With this new release, Cassy boldly takes her music into a different direction, promising listeners an immersive and soul-stirring experience.

With each new project, Cassy Judy continues to challenge herself creatively, leaving audiences eagerly anticipating what she will do next.
