The two producers based in Sydney touched down in Canberra at the UC Refectory for one incredible night joined by the talented Genesis Owusu and Mookhi as they conclude their basically sold out ‘What Comes Next’ tour.

The night kicked off with Mookhi, although I only made it in time for Genesis Owusu, I’m could imagine her set was incredible because her sound complements the essence of this tour alongside Canberra native Genesis Owusu. Kofi hit the stage with such energy as always and I’m sure it was exhilarating for him being on this tour in his home town. Owusu’s music roots from jazz-inspired hip-hop, with elegant lyrical content and a beautiful tone. His ‘goons’ as he likes to call them all joined the stage for ‘Goondocks / Cbr Zoo 2’, which is always a crowd pleaser. Owusu brought out so much energy and got the crowd hyped for the twins Cosmo and Pat.

The Cosmo’s boys hit the stage with awesome visuals supported by this really cool sample of a ‘sparkling’ sound effect which fitted into the nature of their name being ‘Cosmo’s Midnight’. I was in the bathroom not realising the show had already started and I could hear the groovy beat of ‘Get to Know’ and instantly headed back to the stage making my way through the crowd who was already grooving and singing along to the hit featuring Winston Surfshirt. Stand out track for me was ‘Polarised’, the production of this song is so magical already and having brought to life took the song to a whole new and different perspective live. I wanted an encore of this track that’s how good it was. Vocalist Asta joined the stage for ‘Talk to Me’ and ‘History’, which was an exciting addition to this already jam-packed lineup. She brought out so much energy with her unique vocals with ‘History’ proving to be the popular track.

This album is truly remarkable, Cosmo and Pat’s craft shined through with this new record ‘What Comes Next’, leaving the crowd eager for the next track. It wouldn’t be a Cosmo’s Midnight show without singles ‘Walk With Me’, ‘Mind Off’ and ‘Snare’ which the crowd was very pleased by. ‘Montego’ was another stand out which was perfectly crafted live, with its unique sound taking you on a journey.

Seeing a show in my hometown was such a great experience for me as I knew I would be bumping into plenty of people all coming to appreciate good music. The show pulled out a good crowd with good energy, leaving space to boogie all night long without it feeling congested. A one hour set from the boys was definitely not enough, I wanted more. I can’t wait to catch the boys again at another gig. I was grateful to be in the presence of talented musicians and around people who were there to have a good time.
