DAY6
3RD WORLD TOUR
@ John Cain Arena, Melbourne
9th April 2025
(Live Review)

It’s been five years and five months since Day6 last touched down in Melbourne, and judging by the atmosphere in John Cain Arena on 9 April 2025, fans were more than ready for their return. Made up of four members; Sungjin (vocals and guitar), Young K (vocals and bass), Wonpil (vocals and synthesiser) and Dowoon (drums), Day6 had so much success with this tour in Australia that the venue for this show got an upgrade. It was originally slated for Festival Hall and the upgrade was worth it because the arena was packed!
The moment the lights went down and Best Part kicked in with a literal bang – yay confetti canons – everyone jumped to their feet and we knew we’d be in for a great show!
The stage had huge LED screens so that everyone could see their bias close up – no one was missing out tonight, no matter where they were sitting. It was also nice to see drummer Dowoon up on a raised platform and well lit, as drummers can often be tucked away at the back in the shadows, but not tonight, he was front and center with the other members.
Things really took off with the second song Better Better. The crowd absolutely belted out the “woahs”, and by the time Healer and Time of Our Life rolled around—with rainbow confetti everywhere—it felt like a proper celebration.
Then came the first ment (aka chat break), and the band were all smiles:
“Hi Melbourne!! Nice to meet you!”
“Let’s go, Melbourne!”
“It’s been five years and five months… Did you miss us?” (Cue screams)
“We’ve only got one night here, but you’re going to make it legendary!”
.
.
From there, they launched into a mix of sweet pop ballads and rock bangers—She Smiled, How to Love, and Pouring. Wonpil on keyboard melted hearts with his sweet waves to the crowd and heart-hand gestures. He also thanked the crowd during the show, saying how grateful he was for the warm Aussie welcome. You could feel the sincerity.
There was a hilarious moment when Young K discovered a very persistent fly on his mic and jacket during Say Wow and commented on it after the song:
“He or she wanted to join the party!” He then points to his jacket.
“Do you think this fly got tickets to the show?”
Then came the emotional one-two punch of You Were Beautiful and I Loved You, where the crowd sang an entire chorus back to the band. If you’ve been to any gig, you know how beautiful it is when the crowd sings back to the band members. You could tell it meant a lot to the guys.
From Letting Go (rebooted ver) through to Congratulations, the energy kept building. I particularly loved Letting Go. Then they moved into another ment that lead into a little singalong session where each band member picked songs for them to sing with the crowd.
The show then moved into my favourite section with the rock-pop songs How Can I Say, I Wait, and Love Me or Leave Me—gritty, rocky, and full of life. I was definitely up and dancing during these ones. The guys can really turn on the power for these songs. Shoot Me took things to another level with solos from each band member and a fake ending, just to then launch into the chorus again with the audience singing at full force.

After a short video interlude, we got a softer moment with Monster, followed by fan-favourite Zombie, and then Melt Down. They showed a quote on the screen leading into Melt Down:
Sometimes when we feel like we’re lost,
the words that you will stay by our side
bring us back to our feet.
To all of you who brought us miracles
we hope our song will melt you down warmly.
It was a lovely way to intro the song and we also got hit with some more confetti streamers for an extra bit of love!
HAPPY and Wish gave off feel-good vibes, and the boys shared more funny banter, getting the crowd to sing along again. And then… came the “No” moment—which had many fans laughing along. The guys had a go at mimicking how Aussies say “No” and Sungjin absolutely nailed it!
We’d surpassed the 2 hour mark by then and the final segment was upon us. Help Me Rock&Roll, Shxtty Game, DANCE DANCE, and Freely was pure chaos mixed with joy in the best way. The band gave it everything, and the crowd matched them at every moment.
The boys left the stage to applause and the show moved into a crowd singalong with audience members being shown on screen as they sang.
For the encore, they came back, complete with an outfit change – now rocking their tour merch, with My Day, First Time, Welcome to the Show, and wrapped with Best Part again—a full-circle moment that brought it all home. With the show coming in at just under three hours, the fans couldn’t have asked for more from the band.
Whether you were there for the pop songs, the rock anthems, the cheeky fly, or just to scream “Nooo” along with Sungjin, Day6 made sure no one left without a full heart… and possibly some hidden confetti here or there.
