Doja Cat hit the stage in Brisbane and for two straight hours, the GRAMMY-winning artist proved exactly why she’s become one of the most influential and unpredictable forces in pop today. It was fierce, funny, theatrical, emotional, and executed with the kind of precision that only comes from an artist fully locked into her prime.

She opened with “Cards” from her latest album Vie, emerging from the shadows in a black-and-white high-cut bodysuit, sheer stockings, high heels, and a single red rose, pinned just above her heart. Doja Cat embodies a vibe somewhere between Prince’s electric swagger, Janet Jackson’s choreographed discipline, and Missy Elliott’s inventive confidence, but none of it felt borrowed. It felt like she was stitching her influences directly in her own style.

Her band, styled like they’d stepped out of a neon-lit 80s funk VHS tape, came firing with live horns, thundering bass, and sax players who played straight from their souls. With real instruments filling the venue, her music hit differently. It felt warmer, grittier, and more alive than any studio version could ever hope to be.

Vocally, she was remarkably versatile. Doja Cat moves between singing and rapping with such ease. On “WYM Freestyle,” she delivered with pure venom; on “Gorgeous,” she slipped into a dreamy, honeyed softness; on “Agora Hills,” she leaned into something slow-burning and sultry. And during “Ain’t Shit,” she kept a watchful, mischievous eye on the crowd, letting us take over certain lyrics, almost testing us, but proud of us.

The choreography was just as sharp. During “Wet Vagina,” with flames surging behind her, her movements were confident, and playful, like she was carving her name into the air.

There was a moment that landed the hardest, and it wasn’t loud or flashy. It was the pause.

Halfway through the show, Doja Cat paused. Really paused. The crowd roared, and she just… let it in. You could see her chest rise, her eyes glisten. She bowed, long and low, like she was taking in the weight of everyone’s love. For an artist known for her unapologetic tongue, the vulnerability of that moment was pure gratitude, and it felt grounding.

If you wanted energy, Brisbane delivered. “Tia Tamera” erupted, “Juicy” hit like a sugar rush, and “Boss Bitch,” “Say So,” and “Kiss Me More” was a cultural milestone. Every era of Doja Cat’s catalogue found its place, stitched into a setlist that worked so well.

Production-wise, it was maximalist in the best way. Fireworks, flames, razor-sharp lighting cues, bursts of colour, all delivered without a single costume change. And yes, no costume changes. In a subtle nod to her recent pushback on fan expectations, Doja Cat stuck to one look for the entire show, a pointed reminder that what she brings to the stage isn’t about wardrobe swaps, but the sheer work and intention she pours into every second she’s onstage.

She closed with “Jealous Type” as confetti showered the venue, a sleek, emotional finale that let her vocals take full centre stage. Before slipping backstage, she tossed roses into the crowd.

Doja Cat takes her flowers, and more than earned them.

Magnetic, dynamic, and unapologetically strange.

A rose for her too.

About DOJA CAT:

GRAMMY award-winning global superstar Doja Cat made her first upload to Soundcloud in 2013 at just 16 years old. Having grown up in and around the LA area, she developed a knack for music by studying piano and dance as a kid and listening to the likes of Busta Rhymes, Erykah Badu, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and more. Signed to Kemosabe/RCA Records in 2014, she released her Purrr! EP followed that with her debut album Amala in spring 2018, but it was her August 2018 release of ‘MOOO!’ which catapulted her into the mainstream and was met with critical acclaim.

Doja Cat released her sophomore GRAMMY-nominated platinum album Hot Pink in November 2019 to mass critical acclaim; the album has garnered 7 billion streams worldwide. It features ‘Streets’, the viral sensation that soundtracked the ‘Silhouette Challenge,’ one of the biggest TikTok trends to date, and her GRAMMY-nominated #1 smash record ‘Say So’ which has been RIAA certified 6x platinum and catapulted Doja Cat into global superstardom.

With over 36 billion worldwide streams to date, Doja Cat’s creativity and showmanship as a performer have been praised time and time again, she has delivered unique and show-stopping performances on nearly all the major Award Show stages and music festivals throughout the world. GRAMMY award-winning ‘Kiss Me More’ ft. SZA, the lead single off Planet Her is certified 5x platinum by the RIAA and hit #1 at Top 40 and Rhythm radio with over 3 billion streams worldwide.
