Smashing an ATM and taking the cash from it:
Alright, I’m about to get radical leftist on your arse. Liberal voters, best move to the next topic. Let me make this publicly clear: I have not (yet) done this in my life, so don’t go starting any rumours. But let’s break this down because on a moral level I don’t see any issue and on a personal level I think anyone who has the guts to do it is actually a fuckin legend. As someone who used to work for the NAB (call the punk police), let me tell you what happens when damage occurs at the bank – they pay money to local trades people clean up and fix the damage (giving work to everyday people you and me) and they get on with their lives as if nothing happened. Causing damage to an ATM is not like robbing a bank in person, where bystanders and bank workers could potentially be traumatised for life during the process. It’s a victimless crime. and if the crime element is the bit that is making you feel uncomfortable, consider this. Do you know how much crime goes on behind closed doors at the bank? Do you remember the damage the banks caused to the farming communities a few years back that warranted a royal commision? Do you know how much corrupt and immoral conduct play happens at the top levels of these institutions? It’s legal organised crime in there I tells ya. Do you think that banks care at all about you as an individual? Do you think anyone at the bank cares if you cause damage to their property and take a few pennies from their pocket? Dude, seriously, they don’t. They probably think it’s pretty cute. The only reason it’s illegal is because at their highest level the bank and politics are closely intertwined and pretty much in bed with each other. They are nearly the same institutions and if they weren’t it would be illegal to become a bank. Do not feel bad about taking their money or causing damaged to them, I fail to see any reason not to aside from the fact you run the risk of getting into trouble with the law. In the words of my old manager “$1 million is pennies to the bank”, there’s no way this much damage could be caused from behaving so irreverently. Happy rioting friends.

Dumpster Diving
Are you really a punk at heart if you haven’t been dumpster diving at least once? In my early twenties I worked it down to a fine art and it helped me maintain a higher quality of life whilst being able to run around the country in tour vans playing punk shows and getting paid fuck all. They say it’s illegal, but it’s another victimless crime. Also, shall we practice some more mental gymnastics here? They reckon that about 1/3 of all food produced is lost or wasted. Sure it’s illegal to dumpster dive, but what’s more immoral – wasting that much food when people around the world are starving or taking a bag of perfectly edible and untouched pies no ones wants from a dumpster that’s been in there for less than an hour. And i’m not talking a 2/3’s eaten vegemite and cheese scroll from the bin on the street, i’m talking garbage bags full of hundreds of scrolls just sitting in their own separate bag (albeit in the dumpster) behind Sandringham Baker’s Delight (oops did i just say the suburb i grew up in?). There are also people out there who will snub their nose at this behaviour, thinking that eating food from a bin is somehow gross or wrong. To that I say – classism. and I’m glad those people have never been in a situation in their life where they have thought the path to least resistance would be to dumpster dive. The food is fine, just take it!

Jaywalking
Jaywalking is illegal for the same reason that drugs are illegal – the general public can’t be trusted to do it properly on their own without harm to themselves and others. But I reckon if you know you’ve got it under control, then just go ahead and cross the road. If you can identify it’s safe to cross, just do it. If you can identify it’s safe for you to enjoy a joint after work, do it. It’s the same logic IMO. If you are trying to cross a freeway by foot with oncoming traffic and not giving them any place to swerve out of the way, don’t. If your habits cause you to regularly find yourself coming back to consciousness completely naked buying a cookbook from Big W, well, time to reassess.

Using like 10 cloves of garlic
I agree with nats What I reckon. If a recipe says use two cloves of garlic, throw it away and use ten. I know it seems scary because it’s a strong flavour but when you cook it, all of that flavour just disappears and the same amount stays whether you’ve used one or seventeen. The only difference is that garlic has some serious health benefits and your just upping your dose of immunity by using more. Plus is smells good.

Throwing all your coloured clothes in with whites when you wash
I know real adults separate their colours and whites, but honestly I’ve been throwing all my colours in to one wash for my entire adult life and everything has been fine. It’s also faster and saves time, energy and money. Using cold water in your wash can add an extra level of security that the colours won’t bleed, but honestly you hardly even need to do that. Do what’s right for the earth.

Having made a powerful re-entry for the year with new single ‘Does It Matter?’, Melbourne’s Clowns now present the song’s official music video.

Directed by Nick Manuell across locations in Footscray and Melbourne city, the visuals capture the hectic energy of the song itself. A song that thrives on big anarchic vibes, ‘Does It Matter?’ is the perfect track to get Clowns fans revved for the return of the Melbourne punk legends.

The music video adds fuel to the fire.

‘Does It Matter?’ is the first cut of new music from Clowns since 2019’s Nature/Nurture album. As the first of multiple new music releases from the band through their own label Damaged this year, ‘Does It Matter?’ comes as one of ‘the most Clowns songs that had ever existed’.

“We wanted to make a video that encapsulated the equal parts ferocity and mundanity of our last 12 months. Stay tuned for our guitarist Jarrod’s massive guitar moment in the final post-chorus of the song. It’s like Slashes’ epic moment bit in the Guns N Rose – November Rain film clip, If November Rain was written and filmed in lockdown…”  Clowns
