Climate change songwriter Gailla steps confidently into the folk-pop landscape with her new single, “Run To,” an uplifting track that fuses catchy indie-folk with a deeper message.
Gailla is an artist who truly has something to say. Her music is driven by a desire to shine a light on the issues of climate change and challenging how we may be obliviously living our lives. “Run To” addresses our environmental ignorance that will eventually lead to possibly dire consequences.
Driven by her warm, vibrant vocals, “Run To” captures the easiness of wanting to create a little world of comfort. Gailla’s voice has a natural, friendly quality that flows over the listener with a sweetness that brings a smile to your face. Her open nature draws you in and reminds you of the other vocal fairies like Feist and Norah Jones.

Instrumentally, “Run To” layers breezy guitar riffs with the relaxed shuffle of a banjo and angelic harmonies, creating a laid-back and polished atmosphere. The production glows, ensuring each element works seamlessly together without overwhelming the track’s straightforward charm. A mid-tempo beat keeps “Run To” moving, while the song crests in the instrumentation giving a touch of texture, enhancing the song’s easygoing vibe.
Lyrically, Gailla opts for poetic messaging. It feels confessional, like finding a long lost letter with its equal measure of hope and uncertainty. Gailla wonders where she can escape with a loved one. Will there be any place they can feel safe untouched by the effects of modernity and climate change? There’s an intimacy to her words that allows listeners to place themselves within the story. Her lyrics, while simple, carry a genuine warmth that’s hard to resist. On the surface it’s beguiling but underneath lies a very smart protest song.
“Run To” is a song that is refreshingly honest, with a feel-good appeal that’s effortlessly comforting. Though it sticks close to familiar folk territory, Gailla’s sincerity and knack for melody make it a joy to experience. This gem of a song is a sweet addition to Gailla’s growing body of work, and a promising sign of what she has to offer, “Run To” is a delightful taste of Gailla’s ability to blend emotive messaging with irresistible indie-folk motifs.
