Hertford-reared, Bristol-based singer/songwriter George Ezra is known for his beautiful baritone vocals and catch melodious tracks. Having recently announced the release of a sophomore album, George has brought his live show down to  Australia. I was lucky enough to secure a ticket to the sold out show at the Forum Theatre in Melbourne

.

.

Packed into the gorgeous Forum Theatre like sardines, concert goers were spilling drinks everywhere as lively fans jostled for a position in one another’s personal space. This crowd was great news for the George Ezra (the gig sold out), but bad news for anyone under 5ft 4” hoping for a glimpse of the main act.

.

After a short and sweet opening set by the lovely Ainslie Wills, the Austin Powers theme song rang across the venue as the man of the hour took to the stage. We obviously all knew it was George Ezra, yet he introduced himself anyway. Accompanied by his six-piece band, they sported all-black ensembles, including George. They looked like a cohesive unit ready to put on an amazing performance, and that they did. Ezra swiftly opened the show with the upbeat crowd favourite ‘Cassy-O’. And with that we were off.

.

.

Playing a few of our favourites including ‘Getaway’ and ‘Listen To The Man’, Moments before George transitioned into the beginnings of track ‘Barcelona’ he gave us a little backstory on this track. He mentioned buying a ticket overseas with nothing planned except his accommodation, He was to stay with a stranger he met on the Internet. This strangers name was Tamara, Hence the title of the upcoming album “Staying at Tamara’s”. In anticipation of this new album the crowd were treated to not one, not two, but three unreleased tracks off this new album.

.

.

As the show rolled on Ezra’s vocals continued to ring through clear as day. He has one of the lushest voices in the industry (in my opinion) coupled with his interesting attempts at dancing, which mainly consisted of an energetic sway whilst simultaneously shaking his guitar around, made for a captivating and uplifting live show. During the encore performance of Ezra’s number one song ‘Budapest’ the community bouncing had reached intensity that risked parting the Forums’ plaster from its beautiful surroundings. I for one cant wait for the album and the inevitable next tour.
