Chaos, Fan Interactions, and a Stage-Dominating Performance

After a decade-long absence, Hollywood Undead finally brought their high-voltage chaos back to Australia, and Sydney’s Liberty Hall became their latest battleground. It was sweaty, loud, and everything a Hollywood Undead gig should be—pure mayhem sprinkled with unfiltered humour.

From the moment the first notes of ‘California Dreaming’ ripped through the speakers, the crowd was all in. They didn’t just come to watch a gig—they came to lose their minds. And with a setlist stacked with classics like ‘Bullet’ and ‘Everywhere I Go,’ alongside newer Hotel Kalifornia bangers, the Undead made sure that’s exactly what happened.

A Band That Was Born to Perform

It’s one thing for a band to bring energy—it’s another for them to look like they were born for it. Johnny 3 Tears shared with me in an interview (interview below) that playing live (even a few nights a week) isn’t exhausting; it’s his fuel. And after watching him and the crew tear up that stage, he proved his words weren’t a lie. They didn’t slow down for a second, commanding the room like rockstars who’d just rolled out of bed and straight onto the stage like it was second nature.

But what set this gig apart was how Hollywood Undead didn’t just play to the crowd—they played with them. From the moment they hit the stage, they made sure everyone in that room felt like part of the Undead. Charlie Scene even tossed his mic into the audience, letting fans scream the lyrics at the top of their lungs. At the same time, the rest of the band worked every corner of the stage, making eye contact, throwing high-fives, and hyping up the pit.

It wasn’t just a performance; it was a shared experience.

And the crowd gave it right back. The band barely made it offstage before the venue was shaking with chants for more. Hollywood Undead answered the call, storming back out for ‘Undead’ and ‘Day of the Dead,’ ending the night on an explosive high.

Aussie Love, a Shoey, and a Moment of Reflection

One of the gig’s highlights came during ‘Coming in Hot,’ when the band pulled a fan up on stage to shred guitar alongside them. The guy absolutely killed it—so much so that Charlie Scene upped the ante, challenging him to play while downing a beer. He didn’t just rise to the challenge—he did a shoey to top it off. The crowd lost it, and even the band looked impressed.

But it wasn’t all just chaos and riffs. Before launching into ‘Hollywood Forever,’ the band took a rare quiet moment to talk about what playing music means to them. It was a real reminder that underneath the masks and party anthems, these guys love what they do, and they love their fans for making it possible.

If Hollywood Undead’s return to Australia proved anything, ten years was way too long to wait. They came, they saw, they raised hell—and judging by the absolute carnage of the night, they’ll be back to do it again.
