Inhaler kicked off the Australian leg of their 2025 Open Wide tour with a show at Perth’s Astor Theatre on the 4th June.

The Dublin-based four-piece returned to Australia after a successful Australian tour last year, but this time Western Australian fan were treated to a show after missing their previous tour. A line wrapped around the theatre before doors opened, a clear sign the crowd was more than ready.

Local rising band Dice, snagged the support slot. Their set kept most of the audience on their feet, grooving along to familiar hits and teasing a new song.

They wrapped up their set with their most popular song “Stop Sign”, which left the audience buzzing. Even middle-aged men in the crowd were surprised at how many songs they recognised.

As Inhaler’s stage was being prepared, fans eagerly zoomed in on the freshly taped setlists, trying to get a glimpse of what the night had in store. While the crowd leaned young, there was a surprising and refreshing mix of all aged dotted through the room.

Excitement built when Inhaler launched into their opening track “Open Wide”. By the second song “Dublin In Ecstasy”, Frontman Eli Hewson had leapt into the barrier to interact with fans, instantly lifting the crowds energy.

The real turning point came from their performance of “A Question Of You”, which took the energy in the room to the next level. Their lively performance and the audiences awe set the tone for the rest of the evening, as the band and the audience worked together, feeding off of each other’s energy.

Visually, the show was beautiful. The lighting was well-paced and complimented the performance without taking away from it. The lead singer’s guitar swaps were handled seamlessly by the stagehands, ensuring a smooth transition between songs. The coordination between the band and crew was tight, proof of their level of experience and professionalism.

The well-known collection of songs had the audience cheering at every twist and turn. “When it Breaks” had fans jumping, while “My King Will Be Kind” slowed the pace and had the audience swaying with their phone lights. The calm was quickly swept away with fan favourite “Love Will Get You There” which had the crowd’s hands in the sky and voices raised high.

They prepared the fans for their departure by saying their goodbyes, before jumping into their biggest hit “My Honest Face”. The crowd’s energy peaked, clearly signalling they weren’t ready for the night to end.

The encore opened with “Billy (Yeah Yeah Yeah)” which although catchy, slightly dipped in energy, possibility due to the jet lag creeping in. However, they quickly rallied, delivering an energetic performance of “It Won’t Always Be Like This” which reignited the theatre. Finally, they closed with “Your House”, the most popular song of their Open Wide album, which had the audience quietly singing along.

Inhaler’s presence felt bigger than the venue, this was an arena-sized show in an intimate space. Their synergy on stage, cool confidence and rockstar polish was undeniable.

The 90-minute set flew by, with the band proving they’re more than just a well-produced studio act. If you’ve enjoyed their albums, seeing them live is worth the effort – they’re a band that truly comes alive on stage.
