What the press are saying about
ACCIDENTAL PRESIDENT:

“A hard rock, gothed out, extravaganza of a live show that music dreams are made of” The Music Producer

“Stadium-rending riffs, crushingly dramatic builds and a hard echoing and choral vocal. Bold and struck by a furious passion for that original rock ‘n’ roll carnage, these performers are impossible to ignore.” Happy Mag

How did you all find each other and decide to share your musical talents as a group?
Putting a band together can be very tricky at the best of times for a whole number of reasons. Especially one that stays together & it’s probably fair to say that we’ve been through one whole iteration to arrive at the current lineup where everyone is on the same page pulling in the same direction. That was arrived at through ground work, searching, chasing, working & bonding.

How would you describe your sound?
A Female fronted 3-piece with a socially conscious hard-rock sound from metal to goth to alt-rock with a theatrical flair.

Why do you think people resonate with your music?
I think different people take different things from it. Beths a great singer & front person, there’s some big riffs, tunes & harmonies in there, we’ve got a theatrical look, a dynamic sound & live show, and at the heart of it we’re passionate about what we write & sing about.

Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
So many. I loved the theatrics of Iron Maiden & Eddie  growing up – still do, I’m in awe of the musical excellence of guys like John Petrucci & Jordan Ruddess in DT, but I also love the raw live energy at concerts like Suicidal, Living Colour, The Specials. So we try to take a bit from everything!

Your new Album has just been released! Describe its origin and evolution.
It’s been a long time coming that’s for sure. The band first came into existence 5 years ago & this album was the vision. But along the way things happen, people come and go & you adapt to keep moving forward with the vision. An initial set of songs were written & developed, rehearsed & taken live long before the idea of actually recording anything so that the songs had a maturity & a good live feel to them. Some songs were superseded along the way by what we felt was a better direction based upon the personnel & here we are with what we describe as 9 tracks full of angular riffs, melodic hooks, and in-your-face vocals.

What are the signature pieces on the album, and which is your favorite track?
I like to think it’s not been a case of writing a couple of catchy numbers & filling in the blanks (haha), but that all the songs can stand on their own merits. By the time we’ve passed through with these songs we’ll have produced videos – be it performance or lyric – for every track because we feel they each have something to say. Hopes & Dreams has a sort of epic feel that feels good to start the album with, but that’s then  followed by a 3 minute smash & grab in Rotten Child. Then you can take your pic from the riffs whether its a groove feel like 100 Days or a more classic Warrior Soul. But there’s light & shade in there & possibly my favourite, particularly from a perspective of Beths performance is Last Breath. Because everything is in there & she shows what a great & versatile voice she has.

Any tours or events coming up soon? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
We’re really looking forward to a Streaming gig we have coming up on Saturday 18th July @thestreamingfactory. That’s the studio where we also recorded the Rotten Child Video and will be a good night & chance to really give it some. Fans can expect the works as it’s a full light show & we’re raring to go.

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
It would be too easy to say John Petrucci, but I’d just stand there gawping, so Andy Summers .He’s phenomenal and the main reason why I’ve always had a preference to being in bands with one guitar where there is space to move between rhythm & lead, creating textures etc. For me he’s the master at that in a popular format & to get some first hand insight would be an honour.

Do you have any long-term aspirations as a music artist?
I’ve always played music because I love it. But the more you do it & with the release of this album for example, you think it would be nice to get a few listeners or some decent gigs & what have you. Just so you feel you’re in the mix. Music is such a great thing, but I also find it such a fickle thing, that to have too many aspirations other than to keep working hard, enjoying it as a craft & an emotional outlet can miss the point of the whole experience.

What is the best thing about performing to a live audience? What’s been the career highlight so far?
I think whatever you do in life, if someone comes up to you and says ‘i like that mate’, it gives you an enthusiasm & energy to want to both interact & do better. Getting to play on a decent stage with a decent sound & sound man can just be the best experience as a guitarist, but a concert is about energy & to occasionally be the one on stage feeling the energy of the crowd coming back you is a great feeling. I’d say our career highlight so far was the last gig we played – at Crowbar Sydney supporting Finnish rock Gods Reckless Love & Sydney glamsters Crosson. It gave us a sense that we were firing on all cylinders & that all the effort that we’ve put in so far has been worth it.

Accidental President is a female-fronted Alt-Rock 3 piece playing their own brand of hard rock mixed heavily with goth and metal influences – with a theatrical flair. The band released their self-titled debut album on Wednesday, 1 July 2020. Today, the band is thrilled to reveal a brand new music video Rotten Child, to offer a taste of what will hit you.

Accidental President says about Rotten Child: “Reflecting on childhood, remembering the different perceptions people had, longing to fit in, to integrate, but ultimately feeling outcast.”

Currently composed of Bethany Neville on lead vocals, Dave Ben Lee on Guitars, and Leon Cadden on Drums, Accidental President is at their peak performance. Each band member brings in their own prized talents. In fact, Dave earned a fellowship from London College of Music in Electric Guitar, Leon has been playing drums in successful bands for too many years to count, and Bethany brings in an unmatched vocal talent that has been praised by fans and critics alike.

If their musical talents don’t immediately captivate you, their live performance will. Each live show is packed full of visual stimulation. A rapidly growing fanbase locks in to see the spectacle. From creative costumes to an in your face stage show, Accidental President is not a band you want to miss live.

If not obvious by the name, Accidental President is a band that wants to share their ethos of social awareness. This is especially relevant in our current times of political upheaval and inequalities around the world. The band connects with their listeners on a level much greater than just the music. Accidental President are:

Bethany Neville – Vocals
Dave Ben Lee – Guitar & Vocals
Leon Cadden – Drums

Hard work and passion are the backbones of a successful band and Accidental President fits the bill perfectly. Originally formed in 2015, the group has gone through a long, hard road of ‘Spinal Tap-esqe’ lineup changes and life events that caused a lot of pitfalls in their development. Their passion never slowed though and Accidental President used these challenges as motivation to build something spectacular that is now ready for the world to hear.

The Sydney, Australia based band has formed its own brand of hard rock mixed heavily with goth and metal influences. Adding to their intrigue and performance, Accidental President throws in a theatrical flair to grab all of your senses.
