Given that the Australian Hip-Hop scene has grown into an international friendly market and has already seen names like Manu Crooks and Carmouflage Rose break new barriers, Parkman is at the forefront of the new generation/wave of artist’ set to take the ranks and bring Australian music to a global front!

How did you first get into music? When did it become a serious concern?
My friends and myself were rapping over like Youtube beats in primary school but it wasn’t until about my senior year of high school were i took it seriously.

What kind of music did you grow up on?
Drake and Kanye West for sure.

Who are your major music inspirations today?
I would have to say Travis Scott and Drake. They helped influence a lot about myself.

Who were the hip-hop artists you listened to growing up? How have they influenced your music career?
Kanye West, Jay Z and Drake were the main artists i listened to. They showed me how to really be the best at the rap game and they ended up influencing me that way.

Have you always been interested in song writing and being a musician? When did it become a serious concern?
Not always. I started taking it seriously when i listened to myself rapping and i wanted to get better.

You have just released new single ‘King of the Block.’ Can you share the origins or inspiration of this song?
I wanted a song for my fans to turn up to. I wanted that song to come on in clubs and the whole place would just rise with energy. That’s how the high energy track came along. I also wanted to express my desire to want it all.

.

If someone had never listened to Alex Parkman before, what song of yours would you recommend to them if they could only listen to one?
King of the Block.

If you could collaborate with any music artist (Alive or Dead), who would they be? And why?
Drake. He has always inspired me and it would be cool to get on a track with one of my idols.

What are your thoughts on the Aussie hip-hop scene? What is the scene in Perth like?
It’s rising. There are a lot of talents here in Australia.

What’s next for you this year? Do you have any more new music in the works? Any gigs?
Hopefully be a household Hip-Hop name here in Australia. as well as shows. Lots of them.

Do you have any longer-term goals or aspirations?
To become the greatest.

Finally, this is a paragraph dedicated to some quick discovery. Really corny, but for the fans, can you tell me your favorite album, artist, movie, place, drink, meal and person (living or dead) and some brief reasons why? Answer some or all please?
My favourite album is Take Care by Drake. who is also my favourite artist. My favorite movie is Training Day. Denzel Washington is legendary in the film. My favourite drink is Fanta. Have loved it my whole life. My favorite place is probably here in Perth because it’s the city that raised me pretty much.
