How did the band come together? Briefly describe your journey to date.
We originally got together as a skiffle power trio doing local gigs and re-imagining the hits of Whitney Houston. As time went by and we started to pull bigger crowds we also started to write our own music which eventually led to the crushing rock-punk sound that we have now.

How would you describe your sound? Why do you think fans resonate with your music?
We all take inspiration from different genres which gives us a unique sound. For example I’m very much into punk and rock whereas Seb our keyboard player is heavily into the current London Trap scene. In the UK there’s an underlying unrest at how the country is being run, a lot of our music reflects that as we write about what we know and we always stay true to ourselves.

Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
Wow, there’s a long list! Post Malone is the first to come to mind. He’s consistently putting out great music, he’s worked with Taylor Swift which still blows my mind, plus he even got a cameo in the remake of Road House which was an awesome movie!

Your latest EP ‘The Noise’ has just been released! Describe its origin and evolution.
It’s been years in the making! We’ve got a backlog of tracks we’re working on but the five that make up the EP complimented each other so well that we had to release them together. Having Billy Lunn from The Subways record us and Tommy Gleeson from Feeder do the production meant we were really able to capture the overall sound we wanted for these tracks.

What are the signature tracks, and which is your favorite to play live?
Linework is the signature track for me, it’s much calmer than the rest of the EP and captures a different vibe to the rest of out material. Live however is a different matter, they’re all great tracks to play but Sucker For A Tragedy is my personal favourite. I especially like the solo, it’s Neal Schon inspired and I get a kick out of hearing people singing the guitar notes.

Is there an ALBUM on the drawing board?
Totally! We’ve got more than enough material and we’re always writing more. The difficult part is choosing which songs work best together and which tracks don’t make the cut. Following our upcoming tour we’ll definitely be looking to head back into the studio.

You have the Banagarang UK Tour coming up next month going through to October? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
YES! We’re headed back out on the road! Touring is absolutely my favourite part of being in a band, different towns and stages every night, meeting all the different people and just being in that little bubble with the rest of the band! What can our fans expect? Explosive live shows with our usual hijinks behind the scenes.. We actively encourage people to come hang out with us, there’s never a dull moment!

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
Greg Dulli for sure. He’s an Epic songwriter and no matter which band he’s in from The Afghan Whigs to The Twilight Singers to his solo work and all the other projects he’s done, every single track he releases blows me away. I would give anything to perform with him so put in a good word for me.

What are your long-term aspirations as a music artist and how are you progressing towards them?
My long term aspirations are simply to consistently write and record new music and be out on the road as much as possible. We don’t have a label or management so everything is done by ourselves and the dream is to make this our full time focus. Every year we go onto bigger and better things so let’s hope that world tour lies just around the corner.

.

.

With that in mind, what piece of advice would you give to an artist starting out?
Just follow your heart and stay true to yourself. It takes a lot of effort and work behind the scenes to make anything happen in the music business but as long as you’re enjoying what you’re doing and you love the music you’re making then you can’t go wrong.

What is the best thing about performing to a live audience? What’s been the career highlight so far?
The best thing is when you connect with the audience and everybody’s completely in the moment. I still get goosebumps when I hear the audience singing along to our tracks, it’s a magical feeling. As a band we’ve done so much incredible stuff but the career highlight will surely be playing at Rebellion, the world largest independent Punk festival, later this summer. Sharing the stage with so many iconic punk bands makes me quiver with anticipation, I’m so excited, bring it on!

Here are three general questions your fans will find interesting about you:\

What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
The list of crazy things I’ve done is a very long one, pinpointing one that’s family friendly is not so easy.. I broke a toe after jumping from the top of a bunk bed. It was mid tour so every night I’d be putting all my weight on it when using my wah pedal, that was the sacrifice I made at each gig to get the right tone but it was always worth it.

What is the one topic you can talk about for hours?
The Guitar! I’m obsessed with everything to do with it, from pickups to pedals to amps, which model was made in which year, which custom colours they came in. I could go on about it for days on end without even taking a breath!

What is the thing you like most about yourself?
Despite having ridiculously fragile toes I have surprisingly sturdy ankles that haven’t let me down yet.

Finally, just a few questions for some quick answers –
FAVOURITE:

Venue to play – The Waterfront, Norwich
Food – Burrito
Drink – Cherry Cola
Person in History – Bumblefoot
Tattoo – (If you don’t have one, what would you get?)  I have Disney/Pixar’s Wall-E on my right foot, my Wife (hello Moosh) has Eve from the same movie on her left foot and they connect when we put our feet together. It’s soppy and I love it.

Peace out, Zeus.
