Hi Dayana, thanks for taking the time to answer some questions! Tell us what you’ve been up to recently?
I have been organising loads of gigs and going to record my new single next. So been very busy and just constantly writing and so on. Also had a few holidays haha!
Your latest EP ‘Statements’ came out last month, can you tell us what the main concepts behind the release were?
Each song is a stated opinion of mine, so we have songs about my opinions on the war, love, and mainly just writing songs through other people’s eyes.
Your music clearly pulls from a lot of different influences. What are some of your biggest musical inspirations?
My favourites are, Fleetwood Mac, Rival Sons, Tool, Alicia Keys, Michael Jackson, John Martyn. So yeah, they’re all from different genres I literally love almost every genre. I feel you need to be very open minded when you are a songwriter.
Your music and design aesthetic heavily draw from a place of fantasy and mysticism, can you talk about any particular fantasy stories that have really had an impact on you and your music?
Oh yes! I love talking about this haha! When I was in my teens, I was obsessed with the House of Night novels which were very much about vampires and fantasy, ever since then I have been obsessed with fantasy, then I went on to the Immortal’s series which I love! But I have been reading so much and that’s my love for fantasy ha!

How did you get into music initially?
My grandad and I were always singing, my gran plays piano and my cousin plays a few instruments so we’re all quite a musical family.
If you could sum up the lyrical themes of the EP in one sentence what would it be?
Oh that’s tricky, I would say “some fantasy mixed with political views and a little love”
Which artists have you got on repeat right now?
TOOL. TOOL. TOOL. And Radiohead because I listen to them when I meditate.
What is one fact about you that people wouldn’t expect?
I’m half Colombian but I have the most Scottish accent ever haha!
What’s next for Dayana?
Release our new single with a video and just keep recording and writing and pushing on 😊
