Have you always wanted to be an artist? When did you get the song writing bug?
Ever since I was a young child, I always wanted to make a difference in the world, I wanted to share a talent that could lighten up the universe.
For ten years I was involved in a talent school which involved dancing, acting and singing, singing was what captured me most and I continued to focus on this.
I started songwriting when I was 14, songwriting for me was like journaling, I’d always flip out my notebook during school hours and however I was feeling in that moment, or things I would observe/experience would be written in this book.
To this day songwriting is such a powerful tool to release any feelings and emotions that I may be experiencing at any given time.
Briefly describe your journey to date.
My journey with music started with being involved in a talent school where I was able to build confidence in myself and gain skills in performing.
Throughout school, I learnt instruments such as drums, bass and guitar and fell in love with guitar.
I started guitar lessons in school and would practice at home with my dad’s guitar that he would sometimes play.
It wasn’t until my dad mentioned to my music teacher that I could sing and that I should give singing at school a go, I was so nervous, as singing in front of my classmates was something super scary to me and I couldn’t picture it at the time.
I shook the nerves and gave it a go,and never looked back.
My music teacher Rafa Godoy has been the most supportive, encouraging mentor that really, I wouldn’t be making music if it wasn’t for him.
I started busking every Fridays in Rundle Mall to practice songs in front of people and from this I got to collab with a few artists I met, one of the songs was even featured on Fresh FM many times.
Rafa encouraged me to audition for the Class of Cabaret, which is a show in the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, I did this and got accepted to be part of this program which involved highly focused vocal teaching by Charmain Jones, boot camps, being mentored by incredible successful cabaret artists such as Eddie Perfect and Ali McGregor and learning about how to perform as a cabaret artist.
A year later a Class of Cabaret graduate program was introduced and we were invited to audition, I did again as I really fell in love with this way of performing and I was accepted.
This was a show that myself and three other artists would create together and perform this in the cabaret festival.
This experience was huge and a great opportunity to showcase our talent and stories and a way to really captivate an audience.
I still keep in contact with my music teacher and even was given the opportunity to perform at the end of year school concert late last year which was so wholesome and beautiful.
I took a long break from music when I finished school, studying and obtaining a diploma in Children’s Services and working in the industry. I felt I never had the time to focus on music, and now that I think about that it makes me feel sad to think I was putting something else in front of me which was never a passion and I am so fortunate to be able to put my love for music first.
2 years ago, I started to take music seriously, what inspired me, was when I had broken up with my partner and moved to the country.
This was a huge change and I felt there was not a lot of positivity to look forward to, music came around the corner literally, there was a recording studio 5 minutes from where I lived and a producer saw my Instagram and a few videos I posted of me singing on there, he wanted to chat and from that I was there every Monday, recording, collaborating, travelling and performing together as a duo.
I then got asked to work with an agency to perform gigs every weekends, I was so excited as I always found it hard getting gigs and was super grateful to receive this opportunity.
By gigging I got to meet some amazing, talented people, including Liam Quinn, who actually produced my latest single A Fantasy Girl, he is so creative and amazing and works with some of the biggest artists in the world.
After 8 years of working as a Preschool teacher, I can now say that I am now a full time musician, If you said that to me when I was a kid or a teenager I would laugh and say get outta here!!
I am super grateful for all of these experiences and opportunities, and I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for these experiences in life and the support received by everyone.

How would you describe your sound? Why do you think fans resonate with your music?
My sound, I would say my sound is quite dreamy, nostalgic with a punch of raunchiness and rawness that draws in listeners.
I am inspired by writing as if I am writing a poem, I always want songs to be metaphoric and create other meanings where people can resonate and feel their own emotions towards the song.
I love synthesizers, nostalgic sounds and music that hits the mind a bit differently,
This is something that I want to continue doing and hopefully the experiences I have had in my life, people can relate to and listen to them to feel supported.
Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
I would say my biggest influences are my granny Nora, she has been performing her whole life and as an 85 still performs to this day in a choir.
I really look up to her and her influence and passion for sharing music is so beautiful, she really knows how to share music in a way that is so special and meaningful.
Another influence I have had in the music scene would be David Bowie, I have always loved his style of music, and his way of portraying himself to the world, it is unique and empowering.
Lana Del Rey is another inspiration of mine, I will always take inspiration from her poetic, metaphoric lyrics and dreamy vocals.
Your latest single ‘A Fantasy Girl’ Has just been released! What’s it all about? Describe its origin and evolution.
A Fantasy Girl, I originally wrote this song about feelings I had when I was a young child.
When I was a child, I believed I was a fairy, I went around my day pretending I was one, would make fairy gardens outside and had an imagination so big and magical.
A year later, I asked my family is it ok to tell a lie, and told them I wasn’t a fairy, this was something that made me feel quite sad and I look back at that time now with a bittersweet smile on face.
The innocence I had as a child, and imagination is so beautiful to look back at and I think it is important to think about those times we had and let our imagination like those times still run free in a way that can help our dreams become a reality. (Not to be a fairy) haha
It is ok to escape reality every once in a while and connect with things that make us happy.
We all forget to breath sometimes, so its important to embrace the magic in life and enjoy the freedom life truly gives us.
Is there an EP or Album on the drawing board?
I am currently working on another single, which will be released this year, something exciting, new and fresh!
What tours and events are coming up? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
19th of April I have my first original gig at the Unibar, which I am so estatic about, I really can’t wait to perform my originals live!
If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
Ooooo I’d love to say Lana Del Rey or Chvches, Lana for me has played a big part in my life and got me through so many times good and bad.
After seeing her live in 2017, I really couldn’t get enough of her, her poetic lyrics, captivating performances and vocals, she is truly inspiring, I will always look up to her. Chvrches would be so amazing, they are so energetic and uplifting, it would be unreal, the music they create with their synths makes me get shivers with every song and the way they perform them live is another level.

What are your long-term aspirations as a music artist and how are you progressing towards them?
My long term aspirations would be to work and collab with inspiring artists and really connect with the music scene, supporting others and hopefully be able to make a difference in other people’s lives with my music.
With that in mind, what piece of advice would you give to an artist starting out?
My advice would be to follow your dreams, don’t feel a need or pressure to put something off if it means something special to you.
If creating music is a passion and makes you feel alive, then follow it, enjoy it and never stop.
What is the best thing about performing to a live audience? What’s been the career highlight so far?
Performing live is such a special, intimate moment.
For me performing live is feeling super connected with the audience, telling them a story, captivating them and really reaching your music into their soul.
A highlight for me is when I am performing live and all of a sudden a whole crowd get up and dance and sing along.
These are moments I crave, feel, and connect with the most, the fact that my music is making a difference in others engaging them to dance and feel the music brings tears to my eyes.
Here are three general questions your fans will find interesting about you:
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done? – I think the craziest thing I have ever done was giving up the secure job I had been working at for the last 8 years to follow my dream, it’s a risk but an exciting one, and I will put my all in to feed my dream.
What is the one topic you can talk about for hours? – Besides music haha I could honestly talk about things that make our bodies and mind feel good and help us feel empowered such as connecting with others, food, travelling and experiencing new things, mindfulness and challenging ourselves.
What is the thing you like most about yourself? – I would say my kindness, acceptance and peace. I feel I have so much love to give to everybody and feel that everybody deserves to feel loved and appreciated on this earth.
Finally, just a few questions for some quick answers –
FAVOURITE:
Album – Lana Del Rey – Born to Die
Artist – Lana Del Rey
Movie – Moonrise Kingdom
Place to visit – Japan
Venue to play – Adelaide Cabaret Festival
Food – Mexican
Drink – Coffee or Amaretto Sour
Person in History – David Bowie
Tattoo – (If you don’t have one, what would you get?) – I have a four leaf clover on my ankle, that I got on Saint Patricks Day, I am the only Australian in my family, everyone else was born in Ireland, so it is something that is pretty meaningful.
My next would be an astronaut playing guitar which relates to my previous single ‘A Familiar Place’.
I think tattoos are a great way of exploring your creativity and meanings by displaying them on yourself, it’s like your life’s art expedition on your body.
