How would you describe your sound? Why do you think people resonate with your music?
I guess I would describe it as face paced, brutal Deathgrind. We definitely have a unique and abrasive sound, we still try to capture a bit of groove in our riffs. I think that’s why people resonate with it. We try to keep our sound very honest, ya know? We will never record anything we could not pull off live.
12Gauge Rampage comprise of drums, vocals & bass only. What made you go down the path of opting not to have any guitarists?
12Gauge Rampage formed from the ashes of our previous band, Kvlt Of Dahmer. When our then guitarist moved interstate, we auditioned several other guitarists. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find the right fit. After a few months of scratching our heads, I figured I’d just do it myself haha.We began experimenting with pedals and amp set ups and soon after we found our sound.
Given there is no guitars, but yet the album is full of distortion and heavy riffing, what techniques and equipment is being used to create such a huge and hectic sound?
To be honest, I’m not willing to give away too many secrets as far as gear is concerned. What were doing is quite unique and it took us a long time to figure it out. I will say that even now, our sound is evolving. I have recently added a second guitar rig to the set up making our sound much more whole, it’s an absolute wall of noise!
Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
12Gauge Rampage is heavily inspired by bands such as Dead Kelly, King Parrot, Dying Fetus, Benighted, Blood Duster, At The Gates, Psycroptic and so many more…
Although I personally find a tonne of inspiration from our peers at local shows too, bands like Carnal Viscera, Death Plague, Eternal Torment, Terra Mortem and Infested Entrails…. We’re spoilt to have so much home-grown talent here in Australia. I wish more people would get out and explore what the local scene has to offer, I bet they’d be surprised.

Your new album ‘’Unleash The Rage’’ is soon to be released on August 5th. Describe its origin and evolution.
Early last year, we had just started playing shows and we were starting to generate a little bit of attention, then Covid shut down the live music industry. So rather than sit and bitch about it (there was still a bit of that going on too tbh) We decided to use the time to refine our sound and record our debut album.
We got in touch with Matt Clarke, and he helped us put all the pieces together. The recording process was a bit rough at times too, with covid restrictions making it hard for us all to be in the studio together at times, But in the end we achieved exactly what we set out to do…record a heavy asf album that is 100% true to us.
Any tours or events coming up soon? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
This is a touchy subject right now mate. We have a whole 16 show Aussie tour that was set to kick off from the 6th of August in Adelaide and continue on through till the end of September, Playing shows in Melbourne, all over NSW and a few shows in South East Queensland. Unfortunately, due to the fucking virus, we had to postpone our Adelaide and Melbourne shows earlier this week. It’s not looking positive for a lot of the other dates at this point either. We will definitely be rescheduling!! We will be taking the show on the road as soon as those fuckers let us.
If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
Um… maybe like Dime Bag or Nikki Sixx back in his partying days haha. Lemmy would be cool.. idk man, someone who I could party with.
Do you have any long-term aspirations as a music artist?
We would love to tour internationally and play some of those massive stages in Europe and America, I mean who wouldn’t? We truly enjoy what we do, we’ve never really set any major goals but at the same time, we never set any limitations. We just give it 100% and live in the moment.

What is the best thing about performing to a live audience? What’s been the career highlight so far?
Feeding off their raw energy, that adrenaline pumping when the crowds into it that pushes you harder. That energy when mosh pit is getting hectic and people are vibing with you is like a drug, it’s almost indescribable, those moments make it all worth it. We had a shout out recently from Dead Kelly, who are one of our biggest inspirations. They shared our film clip, #killedmorecuntsthancovid on their social media and gave us a bit of a wrap. Those guys are so damn humble man.. It was surreal, we were floating around on a high for weeks haha.

Since forming in January of 2020, in a small town of the Blue Mountains, 12Gauge Rampage has stormed in to take the Aussie metal scene out with a fusillade of sonic missiles, delivering their own brand of violent, slamming death metal that could grind the beak off an ibis. Hell bent on catching the unwary eye, 12Gauge Rampage offer an interesting and unique twist with their extremities, playing riff heavy deathgrind without the use of guitars or synth. Everything you hear, tracked and live, is shredded and delivered at pace from bass, drums, vocals… and an abundance of rage.

‘Unleash The Rage’ album released via Grindhead Records: August 5th, 2021
The band’s first video offering ‘#killedmorecuntsthancovid’ is about a bloke that’s struggling to make ends meet. He loses his job because of covid-19, the lockdowns, can’t pay bills, rent or buy food, his wife leaves him, he’s struggling with life and is suicidal. He realises that none of it is his fault, decides to hold society accountable, and proceeds with a frenzied rampage.
12Gauge Rampage release their debut album ‘Unleash The Rage’ August 5th through Grindhead Records, sharply followed by an Australian East Coast tour. Armed with a take no prisoners attitude, 12Gauge Rampage will slam you with a wall of sound, with the sole intent on rendering your body useless.
