So, first of all, how did your career in music begin?

It began with this band I suppose. It’s been my first and only and most successful foray into the music industry.

.

Was there a specific time or event that you could pin point when you decided that music was something that you wanted to make a career out of specifically with this band?

I dont think I’ve ever seriously considered making a career playing music. That’s not something I have in mind when I’m doing it, I just keep at it because it’s an enjoyable activity.

.

So I’ve heard the band was created out of you being flatmates! Is that how the band was formed or should I get my facts straight? Haha

No, your facts are spot on. We have actually all lived in the same house together at one point or another, some of us still do. Share houses are a natural breeding ground for bands and shingles. Thankfully, we only share a love of music.

.

You’ve just released the single ‘Sex Beast’, with a stream of singles being released can we expect an album anytime soon?

We are well on the way to writing our first album and once the Sex Beast tour is done and dusted, getting the album done will be our number one priority. Touring is a handy way of road testing new songs.

.

You’re about to embark on the ‘Sex Beast’ tour! What can fans expect from these shows?

They can expect to see us give every last surge of energy, every last drop of sweat and every last shred of dignity left in our bodies, no matter what the night or place or time. They can also expect one of us to try and pedal them a t-shirt.

.

Is there any particular show/s you’re really excited for?

The Melbourne show will be a belter, playing with our mates at our local can’t not be a good time. In saying that, playing new towns can be great fun if you get on with the other bands and the crowd gets involved.

.

What’s your favourite song that you have ever created?

Sex Beast is the best we’ve released but I’m pretty excited about how some of the new tunes that we’re working on are sounding.

.

What is something you would like to achieve career-wise?

I’m in a great band with my mates, writing songs that I’m proud of and some people come to our gigs to watch us. I’ve already achieved more than I thought I would. I have no goals but to write an album.

.

How does the writing process go for a Horace Bones? How do you collect inspiration?

It never really works the same way twice. The conception of a song can be really messy because you’re just grabbing at things from thin air trying to make sense of them. It’s hard to recall where things came from because they have little significance until they’re part of something bigger.

.

Do you take into consideration how you’re going to play your live show when recording? How so?

Not really. We wouldn’t compromise a song by leaving something out for fear we couldn’t replicate it live. Thankfully we don’t have elaborate tastes so it’s never been an issue. We just make songs that sound good and excite the four of us in the rehearsal room.

.

What one song would you recommend someone listen to if it was their first time listening to?

Sex Beast I suppose because being the latest release, it’s the closest representation of what we are now.

.

What are your goals for 2018?

To write an album of songs that i am proud of. then tour that album in places i’ve never been before to people i’ve never met.

BIOGRAPHY

Australian-Gothic punks  Horace Bones make intense, dark and frenzied music.

Inspired by the likes of  The Birthday Party,  The Drones and  The Cramps, the four-piece ransack the shadows of the Australian landscape and psyche to produce a sound equally unique and gut wrenching.

Living under one roof on the outskirts of Melbourne, members Christian Fish (drums), Ryan Caswell (Guitar), Daniel Cockburn (Bass) and Oisin Kelly (Vocals) banded together following the demise of an old share house in 2016.

With nothing left to lose, they rapidly formed a direction and style of joyously belligerent noise, pierced with penetrating lyrics. Within a month they’d released debut single  Tarantula to wide spread praise and horror amongst their hometown music press, a nod on Triple J host Dom Alessio’s top tracks of the month as well as community radio love across the country.

After releasing their debut EP and a string of singles to no less praise and horror, the band have been seen touring the country countless times in their trusty old tour van, “Jolene”.

After blistering sets at  New Years on The Hill, Cherry Rock and  Sydney Road Festival, it’s easy to see that the stage is where  Horace Bones really makes their mark. The fact being all too apparent at their sold out launch at Melbourne’s  The Tote for previous single, Stranger Danger.

Having successfully staked their claim as one of the most savage live bands in Melbourne,  Horace Bones will now be taking their ravenous live show all across this big brown land this coming May on their ‘Sex Beast National Tour’.

The band will be taking in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, before heading into the studio to record their long awaited debut full length record, scheduled for release this coming September.
