Have you always wanted to be an artist? When did you get the songwriting bug? Where did it all begin many years ago in Montana?
I didn’t set out thinking I’d be an artist. I’ve just always enjoyed singing since I was little. It started in Montana — I’d sing a lot in school; my mom was a huge influence. And my dad, they both have excellent musical taste. I grew up listening to the classics. My mom got me a guitar at age 15, that’s when I really started songwriting and making my own material. It snowballed from there.

Briefly describe your journey to date.
It’s been unpredictable. I started with acting and musical theater, found my voice, and kept saying yes to the things that scared me. Every turn has shaped the way I tell stories now.

As a successful actress, how do you blend both passions into your journey and which gives you the most “soulful” fulfilment?
Acting taught me how to live inside emotions. Music lets me express them as myself. Both matter but music feels the most personal to me.

How would you describe your sound? Why do you think fans resonate with your music?
Pop-soul. Emotional, sometimes funny, sometimes raw and unpolished in the best way. I think fans connect because the songs are honest.

Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
Amy Winehouse for her truth, Adele for her power, but most importantly the Queen Aretha. She’s my girl.

Your latest single ‘Good Girl’ has just been released! What’s it all about? Describe its origin and evolution.
“Good Girl” is all about women building each other up instead of tearing each other down. I wanted to make a song that celebrates the feminine confidence and beauty, without competition attached to it. It’s meant to make women feel fabulous and empowered when they hear it.

Your sophomore EP is coming out soon! What are the signature tracks on the EP, and which is your favorite?
Each song has a different story. My debut single “Disco Ball” is probably my favorite. It’s a feel good song that talks about all the beauty in our imperfections. “Ready to Let Go” was written to serve as a breakup song, describing the feeling of being ‘ready to let go’ of the one you love. That’s my most soulful bop. “You Look Like My Ex” is a funny song about realizing I was attracted to the exact same guy and I was dating the same guy all over again. “I’m All In” is about that feeling you get when you fall head over heels for that special someone. All of my songs stem from human emotion and personal experience.

Is there an album on the drawing board?
I’ve always got new material brewing, we’ll see.

I see you have a tour w/ Dylan Chambers & Casey Abrams coming up in September? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
The mix of voices and styles. We’re trading off leads, so it feels more like a collaboration than three separate sets. Fans can expect something soulful and unpredictable. It’s a big national tour we’re hitting all the major cities. If you’d like to come to a show, check out caseybassy.com

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
Aretha Franklin. Her presence was unmatched, and she could silence a room with her sound.

What are your long-term aspirations as a music artist and an actress and how are you progressing towards them?
Longevity. I want to create work that holds up years from now. Right now, that means building brick by brick and staying true to my voice.

What is the best thing about performing to a live audience? What’s been the career highlight so far?
The connection. When people sing back to you, it’s a reminder of why you do it. A highlight was performing at the Hollywood Bowl with Willie Nelson — it felt like everything I’d worked for landed in one moment.

Here’s a few quickfire questions:
Craziest thing you’ve ever done? Trained a wild horse.
One topic you can talk about for hours? Psychology.
The thing you like most about yourself? My resilience.
