Jon Bryant is a true artist whose popularity within the international music industry is growing and certainly leaving a lasting impression with his unique musical style of haunting-ambient dream-folk and singer/songwriter roots. At the start of his musical career, Jon Bryant’s single “Deaf” was selected as the iTunes single-of-the-week and his debut album the featured singer-songwriter album. Bryant followed up his online success with his follow up album “What Takes You” in 2012 and numerous TV sync placements while touring throughout North America and Europe.

In 2016 Jon Bryant released the highly anticipated dream-folk album “Twenty Something” featuring the production of Alex Newport (Bloc Party, Death Cab for Cutie, Mars Volta and City and Colour), Nygel Asselin (Half Moon Run) Jordan Wiberg and Rick Parker (Lord Huron, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club). Not only does his unique Jeff Buckley-esque vocals and compelling songwriting command attention, but his lively, emotional and energetic stage presence also pull his audience in and make his art and presence unforgettable.

Has music always been an important part of your life?
Ya absolutely. I grew up with a gospel singing dad. We had music playing in the house constantly. I was thrown into piano lessons early on.

When did making music become a serious concern for you?
During college I really started to write and sing more. When I went on my first tour and people showed up to the venues I was playing at. That’s when it became serious.

What kind of music did you grow up on? What artists inspired you?
I grew up on contemporary Christian music. It wasn’t until I hit jr high that I started to listen to classic rock and rap.

How on earth did you end up in a cult??
I was recruited by a friend. She had a good pitch. Seemed cool in the beginning.

In what ways did your time in a cult inspire your upcoming release, ‘Cult Classic’?
I saw a lot of cultural parallels that could be considered cult-like. Namely, relationships, belief systems, politics, etc.

What was it like to work with producer, John Raham?
He was an absolute pleasure to work with. John is very underrated and I project he will become one of the most sought after producers in the music industry in the years to come.

Who are your major music influences?
Jeff Buckley, Leonard Cohen, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Hornsby, James Taylor, Neil Young, The Smiths, Chris Issak

What inspired your single, ‘Ya Ya Ya Ya,’ scheduled to be released March 29th?
I was inspired by how we tend to have auto reponses when we are distracted. We say we agree when we don’t, we say we’re fine when we’re not. How is that healthy. We need to communicate. Whether it’s relationships or politics. We needs to have open lines of communication. Otherwise we spiral and lose out on so much good.

What’s next for you in 2019?
Touring the US this April and Europe in the fall. Recording new music and writing trips.

If you could perform or record with any artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
Whitney Houston. I would just sit and listen. She’s got a perfect voice.

Do you have any longer-term goals or aspirations for your future as a music artist?
Ya to write a more vulnerable album. To be uncomfortable and never rest on prior success. To be regularly touring internationally. To write 1000 songs.

Finally, a few questions for some quick answers –
