After releasing a debut album in 2015, spending years performing on cruise ships and venues throughout New York and working with some of the most notable names in music like Matty Amendola (Adam Levine), Katile (pronounced Katie Lee) returns with her brand new single ‘So Caught Up’ set for release on August 31st (tomorrow). The New Jersey born and raised artist has partnered up with world-wide renowned drummer and producer Mark Eckert who has worked or collaborated with touring members for Lady Gaga, Prince and Usher. After being developed by Mark for the past year she is finally ready to release her new single that will come out through THAT NINETIES KID Publishing.
Keeping true to her single mother’s blessing of pursuing a career in music, Katile is no stranger to hard work. Having already released two solo projects, including her debut album ‘Don’t Go Away’ in 2015 which allowed her to consistently perform throughout New York and her follow up EP ‘Real Religon’ that boasts a 5-track infusion of electro-pop which saw her perform on Spectrum News NY1.
Her passion for entertainment shines through her regular performances in NYC and has gained her mass attention landing her in some heavy weight publications such as The New York Post, Time Square Chronicles, Page Six, Hollywood Life & Time Out NY.
There’s no question when it comes to Katile’s integrity and work ethic, having established a solid team and developing sound, she is truly one to keep her eyes on! Touching down in Australia and with more big announcements to come in 2018, make sure to stay up-to-date with Katile via her socials below.

Congratulations on your recent success, performing regularly in New York and landing features in NY1 news, and mentions in The New York Post, Page Six, Hollywood Life, Bravo & Time Out NY. What’s it like seeing yourself in these publications?
Thanks! It’s an amazing feeling seeing myself on TV and in the papers. It’s exciting, and it makes me want to keep doing what I’m doing and to push even harder at my goals.
.
Could you tell me a bit about your songwriting process for ‘So Caught Up’ and what spurs your creativity?
When it comes to my writing process, I tend to pull from my real life situations and then just go from there. I think we can all relate to being in a relationship that feels really good, but we know it might not be the best for us. We go for it anyway, because we are just “So Caught Up” in the way they make us feel. My emotions in real life are what tend to fuel my creativity. If I’m having a day, writing lyrics and melodies helps me get out of my own head.
.
Is there anything you hope people take away from your music?
I hope people feel that they can relate to the lyrics and that it makes them want to move. There is no better feeling than putting on a song and dancing around your room to it, and having that feeling like “this is my jam!”
.
If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing with your life?
If I wasn’t a singer, I would probably be working with animals in some way. Rescuing, or saving wildlife has always been a dream of mine.
.
You were born in New Jersey, but found yourself performing on cruise ships and later in New York, did you ever get homesick or did you enjoy the adventure?
Working on a cruise ship in the Caribbean was so much fun! I did have times where I felt home sick though. There is very little communication with anyone off of the ship. I was away for six month contracts so I had a ton of time to myself. On my days off from singing I just sat in my room for hours teaching myself the guitar. So I’m glad I got to experience that because those moments I had by myself taught me a lot.
.
.
What’s your earliest memory of being inspired to become a professional artist?
I feel like I have always wanted to be a professional artist. Some of the earliest memories I have are of me dancing and singing in my living room to Michael Jackson’s records. I just felt like, this is what I’m supposed to do. Music has always been my number one love.
.
You’ve had the experience of working with some of the world most talented musicians, producers and engineers. What’s it like having that level of creative talent working on your own music with you?
It was super humbling having such amazing talent working with me on my music. My first producer, Matty Amendola, is an outstanding musician, and getting to see him work every day was so much fun. I’m super grateful for Butch Jones (Engineer), and for all the other great musicians that came into the studio and worked with me on my music. Seeing how other people, especially seasoned talent work is such a learning experience. Every time I was in the studio with them I was seeing things in new ways, and pushing myself to be more open when it came to my writing. I feel super thankful for their talents and the time they all put in.
.
What was the weirdest thing to happen to you last year?
Oh this is a hard one. I think the weirdest I can’t actually say. lol
Something funny, I made the top spot on the leader board of a piano game at Dave & Busters and won a massive stuffed “heart emoji” that now sits in my music room. I don’t know if that counts as weird, but I couldn’t stop laughing when it happened.
.
What’s your proudest musical achievement to happen over the span of your career?
My proudest musical achievement so far, would be this new single release. I think it’s easy to just give up, especially in this industry when time after time doors get slammed in your face. I’m proud of myself for not giving up, and for continuing to evolve and work as an artist.
.
What can we expect next from Katile?
A new music video with some super talented dancers. And I’ve started working on new music with my Producer Mark Eckert.
