Originally hailing from Connecticut, Madelline is an artist based out of Montreal.

Having recently acquired her own studio, Madelline’s entire process of making music was switched up – allowing her to take things into her own hands. Madelline’s forthcoming NOISE COMPLAINT EP was mixed over Zoom, her mixing engineer being a great musical partner who really helped get the vibe right.

Madelline spent days locked up in Mirabel, a small town outside of Montreal, from April to June – anxious and not knowing what to do but create. It was the only thing there was to focus on.

Even though she was staying at a friends house, the two barely saw one another except for meals and TV before bed. It was depressing but also productive – the only thing that gave Madelline comfort.

Have you always wanted to be a musician? When did you get the song writing bug?
I actually didn’t realize I wanted to be a musician until a few years ago! I’ve always loved singing and I grew up doing musical theatre, but it was only a few years ago that I decided I wanted to pursue this as a career.

How would you describe your sound? Why do you think people resonate with your music?
I would call my sound pop music but with my own twist. I don’t stick to one particular vibe, I like to explore all kinds of energy and let my creativity feel limitless. I think people resonate with my music because it has an authenticity to it.

Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
I have to say that I love Tove Lo so much, her energy and her songwriting is so inspiring. Her whole “I don’t give a fuck” attitude is so badass.

Your new single “Late Night Text” has just been released! Describe its origin and evolution.
Initially, “late night text” started off as a demo a couple years ago and I never was able to finish it because I felt like it was missing something in the production. I kept on redoing parts of it and taking off and adding new elements. I finally decided that I was going to finish it once and for all this past Spring and I worked really hard to create a vibe that I was proud of, I collaborated with multiple producers and a mixing engineer who also did production to finally get the energy I wanted for the track.

Is there an EP or Album on the drawing board?
There is! But for now, I’m focusing on releasing singles.

Any tours or events coming up soon? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
I’m really looking forward to putting out my next couple of singles. Especially one called “I dont wanna be your fucking friend”.

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
I would say it would be such an honor to be able to perform a show with the late Aretha Franklin, but honestly that would just be intimidating hahahah because she is one of the best singers I’ve ever heard in my life. I’d love to learn from a really great entertainer and artist like Madonna.

Do you have any long-term aspirations as a music artist?
My long term aspirations are to tour the world, make music that pushes boundaries and feels daring and be around positive people who make me feel great!

What is the best thing about performing to a live audience? What’s been the career highlight so far?
My career highlight so far has been honing into my sound so far and watching the progress I’ve made as an artist by growing my streaming. I also have been loving creating visuals for my tracks and getting to explore characters in my music videos like I got to do in “late night text” and upcoming videos.
