Hailing from Adelaide, South Australia, MANE (Paige Court) is an artist to be reckoned with. Today she releases her first single ‘Breathing Again’ off her upcoming 2023 sophomore EP ahead of her appearances at New Colossus Festival (NYC) and SXSW (Austin,TX) as well as a string of US tour dates.

MANE’s music will have you in awe of her energy while simultaneously taking you on an honest and vulnerable journey through her evoking lyrics, ferocious and androgynous vocals paired with Lush alt/pop production.

Her new single ‘Breathing Again’ is set to be released on March 3rd just ahead of her return to the US and the song is the first track off her upcoming 2023 sophomore EP. The song was written with Charlie Mcclean (co-founder of ‘She Writes’) at Kobalt Studios in Los Angeles of March 2022 and recorded at Danger Deer Studios on Kaurna Land in Adelaide, South Australia, produced by Mario Spate (Meg Washington, Tkay Maidza, Elsy Wameo) and shadowing collaborator and up and coming producer in their own right Benjamin Tamblyn-Morrow. Sonically, the single is ultimately a testament to Court’s unmatchable vocals and is a booming, hooky and emotive pop anthem with a modern day take of 80’s Pop.

Talking about the writing of the track, Court says “I distinctly remember writing this song with Charlie at Kobalt studios in LA and feeling overwhelmed by a waterfall of happy/sad emotions… Charlie really gently helped coax them out of me in a way where I didn’t need to be specific or elaborate into any detail which was really nice. The song to me is about a moment of clarity or relief in the midst of healing from something – the sometimes fleeting feeling that it is in fact going to be ok, for me those moments provide a lot of hope. It’s refreshing, relieving and sometimes exciting to feel, especially if it’s felt heavy and dark for so long. I think finding a space where you can genuinely smile, breathe and just exist after a grief is a testament to your own resilience, because even though you may still be going through it your finding room around it to seek hope & happiness and I think that’s brave as hell!”. The song ultimately encapsulates MANE’s ability to tackle heavy subjects with anthemic styling.

Accompanying today’s release is the music video for ‘Breathing Again’ that was produced and edited by Court herself featuring MANE emotively and infectiously singing the lyrics between a montage of a female contemporary dancer filmed throughout dilapidated buildings and settings. Court says “The footage of the dancer was filmed by Omri Ohana and although the choreography was not intended for my song it was really special editing it myself and seeing how well it came together…. The dilapidated settings of the dancing scenes had a real sense of finding beauty in the ugliness and heaviness that some of us face daily which is kinda what Breathing Again is about…. so it just felt really right” .

MANE exploded onto the scene with 2019 breakout hit ‘Chasing Butterflies’ clocking up over 2 Million Streams and hitting the Spotify Viral charts at #7. Her 2020 Debut EP ‘Coping Mechanisms’ and Follow up Single ‘Hi Lo’ were released through Dew Process/Universal Music Australia and were penned through some of the most formative experiences of her life.  In her career this far MANE has played major Australian music festivals including Spin Off, Groovin The Moo, Bigsound, Big Pineapple and additionally has shared the stages on tour and festivals with artists including Matt Corby, Ball Park Music, Yungblud and The Kooks.  MANE recently returned from her 34 date USA tour from August to November of 2022 performing across a whopping 14 states.

Praised for a renewed maturity in her sound and distinct individuality in her writing, MANE continues to push her own envelope when it comes to new music, and her forthcoming Sophomore EP will be another shining example of exactly that.
