For any new fans, how did it all begin? How did you discover your love of music?
FOR ME IT WAS LIVING IN EUROPE, SEEING JIMI HENDRIX AND DIGGING THE BRITISH BLUES INVASION; THE ROLLING STONES, LED ZEPPELIN, CREAMEVEN MY FRIENDS IN AEROSMITH!

Which musicians have inspired you?
IN THE BEGINNING, JIMI HENDRIX AND CARLOS SANTANA, BUT I’VE SEEN AND JAMMED WITH KILLER MUSICIANS OF THIS AGE. JAMMING WITH MY BUDDY GARY CLARK JUNIOR, BILL WYMAN OF THE ROLLING STONES, AND BILL GIBBONS OFZZ TOP, TO NAME A FEW!

What makes your sound unique? Why do you think people resonate with your music?
WELL MY OLD LABEL IN LONDON GAVE ME THE NAME “THE INIMITABLE MICKI FREE”, MEANING “CANT BE DUPLICATED”.

I THINK MY FANS JUST RELATE TO MY NO NONSENSE APPROACH TO BLUES ROCK.
I PLAY IT LIKE I WANT TO HEAR IT.
I COMBINE MY STYLE WITH THE OLD BLUES AND ROCK CATS WITH KILLER TONE. ADDING A LITTLE FLAIR AND STYLE IN MY ONSTAGE PERSONA (AND OFF). THINK:PRINCE, JIMI HENDRIX, STEVEN TYLER, JOE PERRY, JOHNNYDEPP, TO NAME A FEW.

You’re going to be at the Gympie Music Muster this month. What are you most excited about at the festival?
EVERYTHING! I LOVE COUNTRY MUSIC AS WELL! BILLY RAY CRYUS IS A GOOD FRIEND OF MINE. IT HAS ALL THE ELEMENTS OF A KILLER FESTIVAL AND I’M GLAD THEY ASKED ME TO PERFORM! THERE’S SOMETHING FOR EVERY MUSIC FAN TO DIG ON!

How do you find festivals in general? Got any memories that jump out for you?
I LOVE FESTIVALS! ONE OF MY BIGGEST MOMENTS WAS WHEN BASSIST,BILLY WYMAN (OF THE ROLLING STONES), PLAYED WITH ME IN LONDON AT HYDE PARK WITH 100,000 FANS! WE DID ‘JUMPING JACK FLASH’ AND ‘RED HOUSEBY JIMI HENDRIX.

Could you tell us a bit about your Native American heritage and how it impacts your music?
IM AM A MIXED BLOOD COMANCHE/CHEROKEE NATIVE AMERICAN. I THINK BEING NATIVE, I ABSORB THE TONES AND VIBES OF WHAT I AM PLAYING, THUS GIVING PART OF ME, WHENEVER I PLAY GUITAR AND NATIVE AMERICAN FLUTE.

What’s your favourite song that you’ve been involved in? What’s it like to work with such a range of musicians?
MY FAVOURITE IS ONE OF MY SONGS CALLED “THEIR’S A HOLE IN THE HEART OF THE BLUES”. DRUMMER CINDY BLACKMAN-SANTANA, (CARLOS SANTANA’S WIFE) AND BASSIST. JACK DALEY (OF LENNY KRAVITZ), WERE RECORDING WITH ME IN NASHVILLE… MAGIC!

If you could tour with anyone, who would it be and why? (Dead or alive)
JIMI HENDRIX, SANTANA, AEROSMITH, GARY CLARK JR., THE ROLLING STONES… BECAUSE THEY GET THE MAGIC OF DA BLUES!!!

What’s been the career highlight so far and what would you like to achieve going forward?
