Have you always wanted to be a musician? When did you start writing music?
It wasn’t until I was about 14 that I knew that playing music was something I wanted to pursue.  A couple years later was when I first start started writing music.

Which music did you grow up listening to?
Anything from ACDC, Coldplay, America the Band to Jimmi Hendrix just to name a few.

How would you describe your sound?
Inventive, electrified and acoustic music combined with a mixture of folk, southern blues and roots.

Why do you think people resonate with your music?
Many of my songs represent either freedom, peace or love.  At the end of the day this is what many people seem to be searching for.

Your new single ‘Time Stands Still’ has just been released! Describe its origin and evolution.
“Time Stands Still” was written at a point in my life where I was feeling frustrated and not where I wanted to be.  So, I took my time and acknowledged the way I felt about things, and I realised that life’s not a race, it’s about enjoying the journey, kind of like a good road trip.

Do you have any more new music in the works?
Definitely.  I’ve got new music in the pipeline which I plan on releasing throughout the year.

You are about to head out on your “Time Stands Still Tour’ What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
Spreading my wings and getting back on the road again.  You can expect to hear my new single with a selection of some old and new tunes including new sounds I’ve been working on.

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
Early Coldplay…especially the “Parachutes” album stage.  What a buzz it would be to perform alongside these guys.

What’s next for you in the near future?
I’ve been writing new music collaborating with great artists such as The Temper Trap, Diesel and the Pierce Brothers. “Time Stands Still” was the first single release for 2020 and I’ve got more planned for release this year.

What are your longer-term aspirations?
To continue writing and performing but in a more ramped-up version.  I’d like to tour internationally with United States being high on the list.

What is the best thing about performing to a live audience?
Performing to a large live responsive audience has an atmosphere that you could compare to a huge adrenalin wave.  The smaller audiences are equally as rewarding in a more intimate way where you can connect and interact more on personal level with the crowd.

Finally, a few questions for some quick answers –

MITCH KING
“TIME STANDS STILL”

Mitch King presents his new single, ‘Time Stands Still’, written about the simple pleasures of life, appreciating the journey, and being grateful for every moment you encounter.

Born and raised on the Gold Coast, Mitch King spends his days travelling around Australia in his campervan, playing his music at venues and festivals across the country.  His independently released singles ‘Burning’ and ‘Believe’ have amassed almost 3 million streams between them. In 2020, Mitch is focusing on writing new music and collaborating with artists including The Temper Trap, the Pierce Brothers, and Diesel.

Mitch says, “’Time Stands Still’ was written at a point in my life where I was feeling frustrated, and not where I wanted to be. I took my time and acknowledged the way I felt about things, and I realised that life’s not a race, it’s about enjoying the journey, kind of like a good road trip. Smell the roses, and live life without the self-inflicted pressure that one can put on oneself.”

Mitch spent his teen years busking every weekend, and has built an impressive live show which has seen him support the likes of Tones And I, America The Band, and Supertramp’s Roger Hodgson.

To celebrate the release of ‘Time Stands Still’Mitch will be heading out on the road throughout March, playing shows along Australia’s east coast.
