Have you always wanted to be a musician? When did you get the song writing bug?
First and foremost, I started like most of us as a “consumer”/listener of music, at a pretty young age. On vinyl and K7 back in the 80’s, then on CDs, listening to the radio etc..
Learning then the piano and the guitar during my teenagehood got me into composition. The songwriting “bug” came while playing the guitar, and then by playing bass in a band in my hometown in my early 20s.
I then spent 15 years working, after my studies, and I am finally back to making music.

How would you describe your sound? Why do you think people resonate with your music?
My background is a mix between rock/indie-rock/nu-metal as well as classical – through piano classes. Electronic music came after in the picture. I would say the sound of my latest EP is a reflection of my background and tastes in music, highly influenced by classical and the newwave, dark-wave, nu-metal, post-punk, etc that I have been listening to over decades. I turned to electronic music to materialize those influences and turn them into something electronic, somehow progressive and organic. It also opens the door for cosmic poetry in my lyrics.

Which artist’s music and/or performance, past or present, inspires you today?
My sources of inspiration are actually multiple. For instance, living in Berlin brings me some melancholia for some reason, which is actually quite inspiring. At the same time, it is a city which is modern and in constant movement, and I am getting a lot of energy and motivation from that. Before an artist or particular performance inspires me, I would first put my day-to-day / night-to-night life in Berlin as the main source of inspiration.
But to be more specific with regards to your question, one of the last concerts I saw that really impressed me was Chromatics. Great songs, sleak sound, great singer and musicians…It was really good.

Your EP The Pace of Everything that Lives has just been released and the Remixed EP is also due soon! Describe its origin and evolution.
It all started in October 2018. I produced the first track of the EP, Colours (à l’infini) along with a very experienced german music producer, Sebastian Dierksen. The next three songs were also produced over the next few months. I am following a pattern regarding the themes approached in the songs and how the tracks are produced. Topics such as life, love, relationships and freedom are one of the backbones of the EP. Each song provides a different mood that relates to one of those themes.
It then evolved into a bigger project, as Christian Krueger got involved in making the music videos for each track. He has done an amazing job, as this is not straightforward to produce videos for songs of 6 or 7 minutes. I can only recommend to watch them, it is very artistic, with a touch of experimentation and this willingness to match with the music.
Finally, the cherry on the cake are the remixes, where producers I really like and respect – in the name of Radial Gaze, Days of Being Wild, Local Suicide and Skelesys – manage to produce 4 stunning remixes of the original mixes.

What are the signature pieces on the EP, and which is your favorite track?
The single “The Pace of Everything that Lives” is one of the signature tracks, as it probably conveys the most meaningful message into a very progressive music. Having also a singer like Anja Grietschmann doing a superb vocal performance on the track is great. Colours is probably my favorite track. It is the first of the EP, the lyrics are my own interpretation of a love story, the music is dark and epic, emotional and euphorical at times. The remix of Colours, by Radial Gaze is really interesting, as well.

Anything exciting coming up soon? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
I am currently producing my third EP – due in the second half of 2021. I am also busy developing my label, Thisbe Recordings, in order to release music from producers I really like and would like to work with. Given the current situation, it is difficult to predict when it will be possible to play live again, but I am surely looking forward to performing back on stage.

If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
Playing guitar with Al di Meola. Amazing guitar player, composer, artist, human being.

Do you have any long-term aspirations as a music artist?
I would like to keep producing music, and evolving with my sound. I have a lot of ideas, but it has to be of the best quality possible. It takes time to do this. Music videos and the power of the images along with the music is also a very interesting field to explore. Synchronizing music with films is also an area of interest.

What is the best thing about performing to a live audience? What’s been the career highlight so far?
Everything is great about a live performance: before, during, after. Every performance is unique, and it would be difficult to answer your second question about highlighting any of them. If there is however something I could highlight about live performance, is the fun and the camaraderie with the musicians that goes around the performance. This is priceless.
