Exclusive Interview: Tanner Adell on Country Roots, Buckle Bunnies, and Blazing a Trail
Dave Bruce from Amnplify recently had the pleasure of chatting with Tanner Adell, an emerging powerhouse in the music scene. Based in Nashville, Tanner is taking the country world by storm with her unique blend of country, pop, and hip-hop, resonating with fans from all walks of life. Dive into our exclusive interview with Tanner as she shares her journey, her musical influences, and what’s next.
The Start of Something Magical
For Tanner, the dream of being an artist has always been a constant. Since childhood, her life has been a mix of music and movement, as she fondly recalls her family watching her “bouncing off the walls” with boundless energy. By the age of eight, Tanner was already composing her own songs, experimenting on the piano and developing her distinctive musical style.
Dual Influences: California and Wyoming
Growing up between California and Wyoming deeply shaped Tanner’s musical direction. Her Californian school years exposed her to pop music’s allure, while her Wyoming summers rooted her firmly in the world of country. “LA brought the pop love, Wyoming gave me my country side,” she explains. Her sound now embodies a mix of both, blended with a hint of hip-hop—an element as integral to her style as her cowboy boots.
Authenticity and the Rise of the “Buckle Bunnies”
Authenticity is at the core of Tanner’s artistry. Her genuine approach has helped her connect with fans who have crowned themselves her “Buckle Bunnies,” a fanbase as unique as her sound. This connection goes beyond music—it’s a community. Tanner’s presence on social media isn’t forced; she shares content that feels natural and spontaneous, resonating with fans who appreciate her sincerity.
Collaborations with Icons
This past year has been monumental for Tanner, who has collaborated with industry giants like Beyoncé and Clean Bandit. Being part of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album was a huge milestone, especially as Tanner continues to break barriers as a Black woman in country music. For her, this achievement represents more than personal success—it’s a win for her fans who feel seen and represented through her music.
Creating Her Own Lane with “Cry Baby”
Her latest single, “Cry Baby,” is a collaboration with Clean Bandit and singer Anne-Marie. The track captures her signature sound, with country-fied verses Tanner wrote herself. The experience has opened new doors, and Tanner is excited to explore future projects with these talented artists.
The Debut Album: Going Blonde
Tanner’s fans can look forward to her debut album, Going Blonde, set for release early next year. This album is a deeply personal reflection, capturing stories from her life, including a moving tribute to her birth mother, who she never had the chance to meet. The title also pays homage to her mother’s striking, Dolly Parton-esque blonde look, which Tanner celebrates in her own way.
Upcoming Tour and Long-Term Aspirations
Next on the horizon for Tanner is her first headlining tour, the Buckle Bunny Tour, which has already sold out its initial dates. With dreams of playing global stadium tours and creating a transformative live experience for her fans, Tanner is only just beginning.
Advice for Aspiring Artists
In the midst of her skyrocketing career, Tanner remains grounded. Her advice to new artists? “Patience and hard work. You can outwork anybody if you’re willing to stay consistent.” For Tanner, perseverance and a strong work ethic are key to success.
Catch Tanner Adell live on her Buckle Bunny Tour and get ready for Going Blonde, her debut album that promises to take the country world by storm. Stay tuned with Amnplify for more updates!
