Have you always wanted to be a musician? When did you start producing music?
I started taking music seriously towards the end of primary school, I was becoming more and more fascinated with films and how they were made. I wanted to make my own movies but didn’t really have any friends that were interested in that stuff so I became drawn to making music instead because I could do everything myself with a laptop & GarageBand.
Which music did you grow up listening to? How has it influenced your current style?
I grew up mainly listening to my mum’s favourites: Fleetwood Mac, Electric Light Orchestra, The Eagles & ABBA. I definitely feel that 70s influence in a lot of the things I create as well as all the movie soundtracks that I chose to listen to as a kid and still to this day.
How would you describe your sound?
Electronic soundtrack music, I think a lot of my songs have a feeling of travel and adventure which is why I think they connected a lot with video makers/vloggers etc.
Why do you think people resonate with your music?
I often listen and create music as an escape from everyday anxieties and bothers so I’m glad to have found an audience that I think uses music in a similar way.
What are the signature pieces on ‘Ukiyo LP’, and what is your favorite track, and why?
I love every track on the album, one of my favourites at the moment is ‘Make it Better’ because it’s all about anxiety which has been very relevant to me recently. I’m very excited for people to hear the rest of the album, particularly Equi, Friends, Runaway & With Me.
Do you have any more new music in the works?
Always! I’ve already got an album 2 playlist in iTunes & a bunch of songs ready to go for both Ukiyo & other projects. I certainly won’t be slowing down in 2021.

Do you have any shows/tours coming up? What are you looking forward to, and what can the fans expect?
I’ve got some really awesome shows coming up towards the end of the year & a brand new live show I’ve had ready for a little while now. I’m excited to hear people singing the new ones.
If you could perform with any music artist, Alive or Dead, who would you choose? And why?
Maybe Freddie Mercury. An absolute legend in every way & brought so much good throughout his life.
What’s next for you in the near future?
Hopefully a bunch of touring & riding out this album wave until the end of the year. I’ve got a side project I’ve been working on with some close friends & some other writing/remixing I’ve been doing for others as well which should start popping up very soon.
What are your longer-term aspirations?
I’d love to work on some kind of soundtrack, feature a song in a game, win an award or two, release another album, tour America. Lots of stuff.
What is the best thing about performing to a live audience?
Seeing people singing lyrics or reacting to hearing a song for the first time is a feeling that I don’t get anywhere else especially in such an online-centric music industry as it is today. With my anxieties very much under control I’ve found myself enjoying live shows a lot more.
