How long have you been producing music? Was it always something you wanted to do?
Coming up to 13 years now. I knew I wanted to make songs when I started playing guitar at 12.
What kind of music did you listen to growing up? How does that influence you as a music artist
now?
At first it was acoustic, then it turned to Metal/Heavy metal and rock which was influenced by my guitar teacher. I loved it.
When i was shown dance music, it was deamau5 & axwell/ the electro era. I was into it, but once the Melbourne underground started to rise, I became completely obsessed.
How would you describe your personal sound or brand?
It is very unique. I feel i experiment with sounds that have never been touched. I tend to stick in my own lane, with no real support by others in the industry, i have my fan base and community whom i deeply connect with through music.
How would you describe the “Melbourne Bounce” sub-genre of EDM music? What makes it unique to Melbourne?
I’m not really sure what to label anything anymore. Before that label it was called ‘Melbourne Underground’ due to it’s dark driving baselines with catchy synth leads merged with acapellas using minimal style sounds. Once internationals started to catch on labeling it “Melbourne Bounce”. Deorro & TJR being the main influencers of the upbeat bouncy sound which started to rock big stages. The rise of Ah Yeah/Chemical Energy or even “Catch, my Maroon 5 remix & Joel Fletcher’s “Swing” all gave ‘Melbourne Bounce” the distinct style it built for that time. I see it as a piece of history. Music continues to evolve. Right now I’m diffusing my own version of techno/Melbourne Underground/unknown techniques which I am loving. It is right for me, in the now. I experiment and surprise myself – it is what makes my work so satisfying.
You have recently released a new album! How long have you been working on the album?
It was a Covid project. I finally had time to slow down and think. I incorporated new equipment & knowledge through production leading it to the evolved style. It took just a few months.
Is there a track from the new release you can share with us, which you are especially keen for people to hear you play live?
“Patience” is my latest release coming out on Dim Mak. I finished this a few years ago before Covid. I feel that sound was relevant then, but is still a highlight of my sets today.

You are going on tour soon! How does it feel to be getting back out there on the road?
To be honest, I need to see it to believe it. I feel this sense of trauma by everything that has happened. But WHEN it does, I have never been so keen to get stuck into some hardcore touring.
Have you performed live much in the last two years? Do you have any nerves associated with being on tour again?
I have had a few shows here and there. Lucky to be living on the north side of Aus. When you’re prepared, there’s no nerves.
Do you have any interesting stories from tour? What is your favourite thing about being on tour?
I once drove a few hours to get to a festival of 5000 in Italy. When we arrived, my TM at the time forgot the USB’s because he thought I had them. Lucky he had a spare one from years before at the bottom of his bag smothered in dust. I plugged in, was reminded by so many records i forgot about and played one of the most enjoyable sets I’ve ever done. Favourite thing would be getting looked after by the locals, experiencing countries the way they live.
You have just announced your partnership with Melbourne’s locally brewed alcohol brand, Pure Bay Hard Seltzer. How did the partnership come about? What does the partnership mean to you?
I have a good mate who linked me in! I felt it was a great opportunity to jump on board a brand which coerces well into my job working in the nightlife industry. A new challenge and having a good time creating new relationships. Tastes pretty unreal too.
How important was it to you that you selected to work with a local, Melbourne-based small business?
Melbourne is home, always will be.
If you HAD to choose between Pure Bay’s two delicious flavours, do you have a favourite between the Grapefruit Yuzu and the Lemon Lime hard seltzer flavours?
Lemon Lime for day time, Grapefruit at sunset.
What is next for you in the coming year? Where do you see yourself in a year’s time?
Hopefully touring the world flat stick. I’m very deprived.
If you could achieve any goal in your music career right now, what would it be, and why?
Sparksmania stages all over the world. The masses need to be educated with the sound.
Is there anything you would like your fans to know about you, or that you feel they might be surprised to know about you?
I’m very approachable and always open minded about everything.
